Yep! Installed fire extinguisher today and put trailer ramps on hinges. Hey I heard Gilmerton Bridge is closed tomorrow? Hope we're not using that....

Ok since I won a couple gift cards from the Tidewater Broncos Meet and Greet (last year!!) I decided to put a stereo system in the bronco. I thought about just plugging an ipod into amp but I don't have one that has FM tuning in it. I also had purchased a center console from Wild Horeses 4x4 since they had a killer deal for X-mas- I covered power wire connectors so it won't blow a fuse when I throw junk in the console. 240 watt 2 -channel amp (J.C.Whitney)- Used a 5/8" hole saw for antenae hole- Power wires- Ipod is in easy reach. I would have just used an ipod and no radio but my ipod doesn't have a tuner in it- Pyramid angle box, two 12's and two tweeters quick connects(J.C.Whitney)- Parts ran about $350....

I like it. I don't have a radio either, and am going to just wire up a cheap amp and ask Cheryl for an ipod with fm tuner for my birthday and go that route. I was trying to figure out a place to mount the amp, and never considered putting it in the center console. I think I'll do the same. Having the wires running across the trans tunnel sucks, but looks like it's the best place. Not much room in a Bronco for that kind of thing.

I started running the power wires underneath. Then I remembered I still like to bury it in the woods every once in a while and decided sticks getting up underneath could be an issue. Same reason I stuck antenae on console, I'm trying to keep the wires out from underneath. It's really not that big an issue to run them underneath I suppose, just run them down along the fender from battery and down the trans tunnel. Then pop through floor using a grommet (you could rtv it shut completely) then up through bottom of console.

Latest projects- Fitting doors to body to make sure they will still work after extensive body work. They do. Thanks Ray and Billy for helping. Doors are back off and window frames are pulled. They will be "summer doors" this year until I can rebuild with seals, etc next winter. They are getting body work and paint and going back on for mudding. These beadlocks www.atozfabrication.com/store/product.php?productid=16169&cat=262&page=1 should be in tomorrow. Nice and simple and if I need to work on a hub I can still get my hand in there. Time to break down some tires. Got 2 new tsl's coming in also...I'll post pics sometime....

Things done lately- built up 4 beadlocks and waiting on 4 new 39.5 tsl's to swap everything out and build up last beadlock. Tires are supposed to be here tomorrow. The Interco line is hit and miss with the vendors due to the financial issues. National Tire and Wheel has 12 sets of 4 (they won't break up sets now) as of a few days ago. I got mine from 4Wheel Parts Wholesalers in Compton, Ca. They had a couple sets and will break up if you just need a couple. The beadlock kits are easy to install on wheels but the welding does require a steady hand.....

All he has to do is go up a steep hill, then who's following who?! ;D j/kThis Quadrajet is used by the guys at BC Broncos www.bcbroncos.com/info.html. They go fast (desert) and go slow (West coast crawlin') and have taken their Bronco's through the Hot Tubs (doesn't get much steeper ;D) and all the good trails the West has to offer. It should handle Crozet/Rausch/Oak Ridge just fine. Quad's aren't designed like other carb's, which makes them great offroad. This is why they are better than other carb's: The center mount fuel bowl is the biggest advantage in the quadrajet for a few reasons. 1. its small. 2. location center of carb less prone to attitude changes. 3. center location, air flow through carb is around the bowl so bowl stays much cooler. Less vapor lock issues. secondary fuel flow has really no mechanical link so fuel is only drawn on the secondary side if sufficent air flow IE suction is present. No secondary fuel bowl that over fills because on trails you bump around and float bounce pumps fuel into the secondary side and since you dont go fast enough to use the secondary side it over flows. The quadrajet can run with a much lower fuel pressure than the other carbs so bouncing around takes longer to over fill the primary bowl if you use a pressure regulator. Power application through the carb is by air velocity not vacuum pressure so the carb is less problematic at high or low altitudes depending on where/how your power valve controled carb is set-up. Yes, you still have to undestand them, kinda like how you understand sensors and switches and stuff on EFI. Ya gotta know what does what. Jet Peformance does some more mods to the Quad tomake it foolproof. (me proof?) I'm gonna find out. If I don't like it, I'll be giving YOU a call Keith! I mean no disrespect to you or the EB, because I think it's great and so is Billy's. I couldn't even begin to fab up the stuff you have for those builds. But to start from scratch like you are and go carb seems like cutting a corner on one of the most important pieces on your rig. I can picture your frustration right now at Crozet up on DT Debauchery. Guess I'll have to take my Quadrajet book with me so I can tweak it on the trail! That's why I plan on mid-week trips with you DOOD! I do understand you gotta find a happy medium with function and price though. Still, it's looking great! Curious, are you keeping it yellow? It is a fine color.......Staying with yellow...Rustoleum Sunburst Yellow What are you doing for brakes? Hydroboost? You aren't planning on using manual brakes on 44s right?
Beleive it or not, the manual brakes are good since they are 1 ton brakes (huge) and the EB is light, compared to what the brakes are normally required to stop. Hydroboost will be going on eventually, however... They come with all the mods to make them run well out of the box. It will just need some tuning for performance, although most people have been able to just throw them on and go. I've done a little research on this carb at classicbroncos.com/. You guys (and anyone else for that matter!) are welcome to come by, heckle and drink b##r! Dave
Hey Keith remember this post so many moons ago? After our last foray to Crozet, whadya think? ;D
