Good point Norm - I remember bringing it up to him at the last annual - how convenient ;D OK - house warming / work party at my house this weekend. Who's in? I'll feed anyone who lends a hand to the gimpy guy. You can fish from the back yard too. Adam

Cory,
I believe I've got a 231 identified, but I'll definitely keep you in mind.
I'm hoping all I have to do is swap over the back half of the case, vice swap the SYE from the 231 I've got into the donor 231.

Come on over this weekend and have a look at the Cherokee and my new place - 106 Gary Player Portsmouth. I'll be here all weekend, swing by whenever you want and lend a hand - that goes for all of you.
OK, I've had a quick look at the directions for installing a SYE and it looks to me like all I have to do is remove the SYE housing, and then the back half of the case and replace the case w/ a good one and reassemble. As long as I have a good set of snap ring pliers and some silicone it should be pretty easy, right? I've never been into a 231 before.

Me either man, but I see all these helmet wearing 16 year olds with a set of wal-mart hand tools do an sye kit in their driveways so I'm pretty sure you can do it one-legged. ;D I'd come over and help but I promised the family a camping trip this weekend, sorry. If you get to something and need a hand I can help during next week.

OK a better day today - I've got all the tweaked bolts/semi-welded nuts out of the way for the bumper / gas tank skid install and I've got the rear hatch latch working right - I didn't have the right lube, but anti seize seems to be doing the job just fine.
I plan to prioritize my projects by which parts I've got on hand, and essential stuff first : transfer case #1, radiator #2, bumpers/sliders/exhaust after that ... you don't really need those, right?
I'm missing one rear seat latch - the one that keeps the back in the upright position on the passenger side - anyone got an extra?
Fromme - enjoy your camping, let me know if you want to borrow the canoe, I've got a fan for you, and I'll let you know what I don't get done this weekend.
Craig - Wanna bet I get closer to wheeling ready than you do?

If it all goes to pot on me this weekend, I'm loading the Heep and seeing just how hard it is to wheel w/ a T-18 without ever shifting - I'll just be starting and stopping in gear more than usual, I'd better pick the right gear and lines the first time, and spotters will want to be ready to move out of the way. ;D
Craig - you have a "spare wheeling rig"? Really, I thought you had a spare commuter Jeep...

Sweet.
I'll be home around 5:00, if that's too late to be convenient for your delivery people they can drop them off whenever they like. Parts that fit can be left inside the cherokee so they are out of view, and can be locked up too.
