Well, I figure I should start a thread on this. Did a bunch of work to it after getting it to TX so it'll be running and driveable again. Found out that the problem was cracked heads while tearing the engine down. Put new heads on it and got it going again. Will post up pictures later of the process.

Okay, so I haven't had much time to post up on this forum, so I'll do the lazy thing and link you to the thread on the other forum where the progress starts ;D BRONCO II - RANGER.COM • View topic - Kernel's 89 BIII still have a vacuum issue to narrow down completely - I'm thinking two of the upper to lower intake joints are leaking a little. I'm hoping it's not the rings wearing, but I'll do a compression test after I fix the intake issue and see. I may have to re-set the valve train cold lash as well. It honestly runs too darn good to have worn rings, IMO... but, we'll see. I think eventually I'll conjure up a 2" lift or put a Duff 3" lift on it with all new springs. It has the same problem as the '87 does with weak rear springs and seized shackle bolts in the bushing collars that I need to address on both of 'em when the weather cools off a little... too darn hot to do much unless it's in the early early morning or late evening hours 'round here! So, unless you saved the pages of the other forum thread linked in the previous post in this thread, that's pretty much gone due to server crash and lack of caring on the part of the forum owner and administrator. Update on this one. The engine started running like crap which I'm thinking due to lifters failing, so I found and picked up a $500 engine donor a la 1994 Ford Explorer 2WD. Engine swap probably won't happen anytime soon, I don't have a nice warm shop or garage to work in. This one has been my daily beater work vehicle for a good part of the past 5 years or so, and I wasn't expecting the engine to last forever due to the previously cracked heads. I'll have to see if my photobucket still works and then re-update later.
