***I have a hard time calling anything I've done a "build" thread because I'm mostly a bolt on kind of guy. So I never started one on the green TJ. I'll call it a Lightweight Project thread. I didn't keep track of things I've done so I'll just try combine the other posts I've made in to here. So they might be all out of order a little bit. ***
Hello, is anybody there and building anything?
I am back in a cookie cutter TJ Rubicon and I love it, and am not making excuses for not fabbing stuff myself this time.
I bought this with an OME lift w/JKS control arms already on it. I decided on an Nth/AEV skid and was going to leave it alone. Until I found a used Nth Stinger being sold that the guy just about gave to me. To use the Stinger, an Nth diff skid is necessary so I bit the bullet and bought from Joe @ Starr along with a hardware kit for the Stinger. This is a nice set up and allows removal of the two upper control arms in the rear. It also provides some much needed "anti-squat" which was immediately noticeable.
Nth recommends relocating the mounting points for the lower control arms by redrilling the bolt holes higher on the axle side and lower on the frame side. I chose to only redrill the axle brackets. Tommy did this for me and he did an awesome job. You can see in the pic how the geometry is totally changed and after a lesson on "instant center" I understood why it feels even better after redrilling. He also was able to lop off the extra material on the control arm mount.
He also welded on a couple tabs for my trailer safety chains that I need when towing my Bantam trailer.
