Still in need of another person to help with morning registration, A couple people to help sell raffle tickets, A few people to do a police call on the camping field Sunday morning, And a couple more volunteers to help with trash during Sat night dinner. I know that's not a sexy job, but the alternative is to not have trash cans and everyone can deal with their own dinner trash.

Keith,
As long as we are off the trails in time I will be more then happy to help sell raffle tickets Saturday night. I am usually camping on Thursday night as well so I can help stuff if you guys let me know where/when.

“* Generators....we will continue to allow generators. Personally, I'd rather they be left at home because I figure if you can't camp without a generator then you shouldn't be camping. Fortunately for those of you that can't live without them, not everyone on the committee agrees with me. But we do ask that they be turned off by 10:00 pm if you insist on using them. The small, quiet Honda type generators are preferred but if you are bringing one of those crazy loud 7500 watt deals, then please face the exhaust outward toward the tree line.”
I am not sure who composed the email that was sent as an auto-reply to registrants but I was very disheartened when Billy showed it to me today. The part I have quoted above we find to be condescending and not at all representative of the welcoming attitude we have known the association to always have. To say “if you can't camp without a generator then you shouldn't be camping” is like saying you shouldn’t wheel unless you drive a jeep. It’s close minded and simply rude. It definitely does not foster a “let’s all volunteer to make this a great trip” attitude. Billy and I are fortunate enough to have a nice camping rig and a nice quiet generator but we had to save up for both and not everyone is able to do that. Some people like a tent, some like a motorhome. For us, having a camper (and generator) was an upgrade we looked forward to making. Who are we, as an association, to tell people you are only really welcome if you have what we think you should have and camp how we think you should camp? We appreciate all the hard work that goes into planning such a big event but verbalizing thoughts from a frame of mind like this, to hundreds of paying members, is dangerous to any club’s morale and not at all representative of how I believe most of us feel. I don’t know how the rest of the committee feels but we feel embarrassed.
-Linda Dinsmore
Linda, I have not seen the email you are concerned about, but thank you for bringing this to our attention. I did not receive anything as I did not register, leaving another spot open. We are one big family and sometimes things get said we don't mean. Maybe that is the case. In any event, you are welcome to camp with all the power you need to keep the beer cool that I will be bumming and then throwing the empties in Jesse's rig. Please gain of salt it if you can and enjoy. Norm Ralston President Tidewater Fourwheelers

I said it. I meant it. Was not meant to be mean. Sorry if it was taken out of context. There should have been a note of humor in that statement. I have done nothing but bend over backwards for people, give up my free time, give up some of my personal money and fuel to help make this event happen, and give consideration and help those who missed the deadline or capacity limit. I felt the need to address some issues that people have complained of in the past. In the meantime, I look forward to seeing you all at the event. Sometimes being candid is unpleasant, but that's how I am. I don't feel embarrassed. Perhaps someone else who is more representative of the association will be willing to volunteer next year.

Sometimes our filters just fail us. We will all have fun, always do, and it's a job I wouldn't do for all the money in the account!

Linda, I'll make sure to run our generator all night so you feel good. With our motorhome, is that really camping? I believe we are better off than those staying in motels.

This topic has almost superseded the time Boucher told everyone we were selling the 3 Wolf Shirts.

Hey,whatever gets you out enjoying the trails with us! We tented it many times at oakridge before we could afford the popup and had fun but we are definately spoiled in our little setup. One day we may be able to upgrade again but it wont be for a while. For now we will enjoy camping beside u guys and taking advantage of the shade cast by your palace. . I tried to drop a pic of your gangsta sign in here but i cant figure it out lol.
