Now off the the history pile, the Va4WDA run at Gore was awesome. Borderline epic. Weather was perfect. All the rain on friday made for a good mix of running water, mud, and rock. Several of the rock washes were actual waterfalls which was kind of cool. The water was running pretty good. Several of the water crossings were deep. There were a couple of deep mud holes, but for the most part not to bad. The rain put made the dirt a good consistency and kept down the dust that can be bad a Gore.
Only 35 rigs showed. As a result, it was small groups with very little congestion on the trails. My group covered most of the park. I burned almost 10 gallons of gas. I ran the tank low enough that I was loosing fuel off camber. It has been a long time since I covered that much ground in a day.
I still think Gore has the best terrain and best variety of terrain of any place I've hit on the East Coast. They are expensive. The MOR was a good deal, especially by Cove standards. Still definitely recommend hitting it up.
No major carnage to report. Just a bunch of minor inconveniences. I lost a u-joint C clip so that bearing cap is now JB welded in. My steering ram is leaking pretty good and bent, but still functioning and I carry enough power steering fluid to keep it topped off. I also managed to misplace my gas cap so I have an interesting jerry rigged gas gap until I can get a new filler ordered. Due to all the small problems I didn't run today. I just felt like the beginnings of an epic failure and a good wheeling trip turning into a massive recovery. Did find several good wineries on the way home so the day was not a complete loss.

Thanks for the report! I understand that the MOR is the best way to see the property because of the low volume. Any pictures to share?

Pictures to follow shortly. Wifey took all the the photos on her phone so I'm kind of at her mercy.

Been meaning to post videos and pictures.. still trying to figure out how to edit them.
It was an epic trip.. my ride was also almost out of fuel by the time day one was over...
ON day two Alan Forney ( local guy to the cove) Matt whitlock and my self started hitting the trails at 8.. went to the first obstacle and found out that I broke my Air line for my front ARB.. after trying to make the rock pile to the top... and not.. decided to head to camp to fix it.. after a creataive camp fix. we were back on the trail. No one had the right size compression fitting so we ended up heating the arb line and slowly forcing the nipple into it.. worked good for a trail repair.
SO went back to the obstacle and walked up it... now we were going to drop into bunny.. as we were looking around seen a huge rattler out sunning himself which cancelled that idea. so we started down KGB.. I went to use a tree as a pivot... and BOOM.. I started to hear the sound of my driveshaft... Look under neath and my driveshaft seperated from the yoke on the axle.. after looking a lil closer found out I broke the centering PIN on my right leaf spring. SO pulled my driveshaft.. and got off the trail.
Then I grabbed my gear.. cooler and go pro.. hopped into Alan's TJ. We ran KGB till it became the INsanity hill climb. Right at the bottom of it.. Matt lost his rear coil... so we put the coil back in... and off course we see another snake.... So for the 50 or so yards back to Alan's ride it was step... stop .. look.... alll the way back to his rig. Made the hill climb with no issues...
Then we headed back to camp where I had to straighten out my rear axle so I could load my rig back up into the enclosed trailer.
By far this was the most terrian I Have ever covered in one event. Let alone one day.
I wil be back at the Cove for the Fall crawl if anyone is down. There is normally room in the rolling roach motel.

Thanks for posting your write up. Can't wait to see some photos too. Too bad the snakes put a damper on the wheeling. SNAKES!
