if dodge made a good auto i wouldn't mind having one, but the automatics won't even hold up behind the 5.9 gasser.

It's too bad that an auto tranny has more pulling ummph, or should I say can pull a heavier payload!

It's too bad that an auto tranny has more pulling ummph, or should I say can pull a heavier payload! Usually because most automatics are equipped with taller gears in the rear differential to compensate for the shorter 1st gear ratio. For example, I have a 5-speed in my beater Ford and it has 3.45 gears in the diffs, but an automatic would have 3.73s, sometimes 4.10s. I believe the XLT+ and Eddie Bauer models that may have had 5-speeds (doubtful, I believe they were usually autos with pushbutton 4x4, etc.) may have had taller gears, but not sure off the top of my head. That's why a tall-geared 1st gear in a manual (or automatic) with tall gears in the differential(s) is a better setup for heavy loads, IMO.

mine has 3.73s simply because the overdrive in the G56 is only a .62 instead of a .75, i prefer the manual for heavy loads because i can pick which gear to be in and in city driving i usually only use 3,5 and 6 when empty.

Your bumper pull trailer isn't going to sit too level hooked to that, so whatcha gettin' to hook to it, one of these 53 footers?
