So I just completed my move down here from Albany, NY to Virginia Beach, VA on Redkirk Lane. I must of registered a while ago but since im now living here I figured id say hello!
My name is Gerard but mostly go by the nick name Senior since my 8 yr old is a full fledge Junior & I drive a 98 XJ, hence the user name. I moved here from Albany, NY as stated & plan to get back to work on my rig to get yher trail ready so ill be hanging around more often & will be looking to become a member in due time. Back in NY I was a member of Adirondack Jeeps & was even the club secretary for a little while. I have a 98 XJ Limited so its got all the options that all work including the AC!! Rolling on brand new set of 35" MT Baja Claw TTC's, 6 1/2 lift, front end: I have a RockKrawler 3-link long arms waiting to go on, super 30 build, 30 spline chromos, cryo'd 488s, Eaton E-locker, trussed & gusseted, skids & tubes welded, Solid diff, PSC gear box braced, 1-Ton steering, Ruff Stuff panhard bar, JKS discos, 5125 Bilsteins, Rustys coils, drivetrain: 4.0L I6, auto, 231 t-case, SYE, Tomwoods driveshafts, Rear end: Ford 8.8, ARB locker, 31 spline, 488s, Solid diff, Rustys packs, HD Enigineering reverse shackles, 5125 Bilsteins. Then we got a ton of addons, front winch bumper & Smittybilt XRC 10,000 lbs winch, front end is plated 3/16ths, KC slims, 5 KC daylighter roof lights, full roof rack with full spare in it, killer stereo system still being built, flowmaster, Royal Purple synthetics, Stage 5 EBC front brakes, yadda yadda, lol. Things to come that I have ready to go on: the 3-link kit, stiffeners, sliders, skids, rear steel bumper, homemade snorkel, & more plating & armor.
Ok I think I covered everything & cant wait to get to work so shes trail ready & ill use the time it takes to do all the work to get to know u guys & eventually join up & hit the trails. Happy wheeling Virginia!!

Welcome Senior! That's an impressive XJ. How far did you have to drive to go wheeling in NY? Do you have any wheeling pictures you can share?

Welcome Senior! That's an impressive XJ. How far did you have to drive to go wheeling in NY? Do you have any wheeling pictures you can share? Thanks! When I started wheeling I lived in the Albany area & the closest wheeling was in Lake George 50 min away, but there was only 2 trails that were rated a 3 out of 10. If u wanted good wheeling it was 2 to 3 hours into Penn or Mass. Even guys with private land from the club were located an hour north of Albany.
I've got tons of wheeling pics, but only with my old 95 XJ as this is the 2nd one I've built & I have yet to give her a good shakedown run. I promised myself I wouldn't wheel my unibodied Cherokee until the stiffeners, skids, & armor was all installed. Not looking forward to welding outside in this heat, but I guess I have no choice, lol.
So wheres all the good wheeling from the Virginia Beach area? Ive talked to a few who said id have to travel some but I just drove my XJ down here for the 2nd time on a 9 hour ride as shes built to drive to the trails, wheel, & drive home with little to no carnage. (or so I hope).
I'll get some pics up in a few.

Welcome,
Sounds like a nice rig. There is some private land around here its a lot of fun, but nothing extreme. We do have some good wheeling in the area, but it is a hike, 3-4 hours. On the plus side it is really good wheeling and can get as extreme as you want it to.

Thanks. My 1st rig was the "trial & error" build where one thing breaks, then is upgraded, & then u find out the next weak link. With this build, I built it with a target of trails rated 5 to 7 out of 10 so I have no need to go super extreme. I enjoy wheeling regardless & look forward to it down here. After everything is unpacked & were settled, i'll get going on all the armor & get her trail ready.
I think my old wheelin pics are on my external hard drive so get em up when I find the dam thing, lol!

Armor is over rated. Unless it is chain mail. Then its cool. Seriously there is not a lot of hard core crawling that requires a ton of armor around here. If your going to the Cove definitely, Oakridge maybe, private property not really, beach definitely not.

If your going to the Cove definitely, Oakridge maybe, private property not really, beach definitely not. I do hope ur kidding with armor being over rated, especially in a unibodied jeep. Either way, my lockers have yet to be hard wired & my long arms need to go on cause one of my old Rustys short arms had to be welded shut, or it woulda broke. Any flexing even on a beach & that puppy will break for sure!
