Fran, I wished I hadn't left my camera in the other truck Saturday morning, otherwise, I WOULD have had shots from Put-Up or Shut-It hill, among many other photo-ops from Saturday's runs. Not sure, but I think Ed used his camera phone some, so he may have some pics of that, and some of the other stuff. I have to agree, we enjoyed the teamwork and the atmosphere at Crozet and look forward to another trip out there, probably a little more prepared for the ride.

Think I'm going to replace the entire setup, master cylinder, line and slave cylinder. Trying to stick to the "make it right, make it better" motto. Fran

Thanks to ALL for a GREAT weekend. This was my first trip and it was a blast. A special thanks to Dave and Billy. Thanks for the spots and the courage to go were I didnt think I could go. Once I get the armor I need I will be a little more relaxed. When I got ready to roll out on Sunday I noticed a bent shock and A missing wheel weight along with the bumper and rim damage. Sorry for Sunday. Wish we could of made it on Sunday. Glad Chris had a good B-day. Billy, thanks for the Shuttle experience in the new Bronco. That was a BLAST. I was talking to Joe Bonney at Starr Motors yesterday and him and his guys are planning a trip to Teleco in October. He wasnted me to spread the word in case any one was in for the trip. Well again thatnks for the invite and thanks to Dave for some awsome spotting (couldnt of done it with out your help). And a special thanks to Kieth. With out him getting me involved in all of this madness I wouldnt even be here.

Ed, that's why I'm glad when I had my tires mounted and balanced, they used the glue-on and clip-on weights on the inside of my wheels -- I didn't lose any wheel weights, just some minor rock rash on the outer lips. A good investment for people who want to run their stock Jeep or any other kind of wheels, though, are the centramatic balancers: www.centramatic.com/New_Catalog/300series.php -- which I'll probably invest in these when I do my axle swap. No need to worry about re-balancing the tires and no worries about losing your wheel weights. I don't think there's anything out there that will reduce or completely take away the possibility of rock rash on wheels, though. You were more well-equipped than I as far as running the trails we went down... but we were both first-timers at Crozet and it was fun and a great learning experience... and we were in the right group for it! Again, thanks for the invite Fran and thanks to everyone in our group for making it a pleasurable experience for both of us. I've been trying to find re-gear kits for my t-case, and the only options I have are buying an Atlas, finding a different re-gearable case that will bolt up or can be adapted, or going with a stubler doubler... I may do some digging around to see if I can find some 'for now' stuff... I wish I had had some trac-lok carriers with 4.10 gears.... I have also been looking for info on what t-cases will bolt up to my transmission, OTHER than the expensive Atlas IIs from AA. OH... question, did you get any pics or video or anything, Ed?

I'm tired today, but it's a feel good tired. What a great wheeling weekend it was. Conditions don't get any better for rock crawling in Virginia. Even the ever sloppy "Slip and Slide" was barely wet enough to get the tires dirty. You guys are being to kind. I didn't do anything more than say I was going wheeling and wondered if anyone wanted to come along. I think Dave did more spotting than I, thanks Dave. It allowed me to make sure I got the short wheels through or around on the trails. Here are my take-aways from the weekend... - With the additional trails added this year, Crozet now provides a full weekend of challenge for the slightly built trail rig (protection mostly) without having to run anything twice. - For anyone ready to challenge their beefed-up rigs and accept you may receive a little body damage, the black trails are perfect and fairly safe from serious flops. - And as you can see in the videos above, the reds don't need any explanation. - Now the most important take-away. I was quietly sitting around the campfire and it dawned on me how many of these folks I have come to know. For me, open wheeling weekends at Crozet are a "club event". There is always a core of people from all the clubs through VA, MD, WV, NC, and further that keep coming. Anyone who goes twice will run into someone they met the last time. It's truly a "club" event and an outgrowth of Chris and Heather's friendship. The best comment this weekend,,, Sunday afternoon a small group with Chris and Heather were flexing out down at the "Body Shop". An elderly couple drove up in their car (not sure who they were but the Chris and Heather knew them) and stopped to watch the action. A rig had stalled in a rather precarious position and needed some recovery help. I overheard the husband tell his wife, "Look honey, see how they work together as a team." That made my day. The gentleman wanted to get a picture with his wife next to a buggy. BTW, thanks for the pics. Anyone catch me with the FJ40 on "Put Up or Shut It" Hill? Fran Fran, Thanks for the comments and for guiding. It is people like you that make Crozet what it is. Heather and I are blessed with many good friends like you and TW, MPJAI, DSO, SV4W, NC4X4, NOVA, RICHMOND GUYS, MD CREEPERS, TGC4X4, CORE, OCC, HRC, many many other groups. We found the opportunity to have such wonderful land, and wanted to share it with people that love and want to expand the sport. Your comments are beyond kind. Thanks again, Chris and Heather Packard

Hey Chris P! I'm introducing a friend (BOMLODER, soon to be TWFW I hope) to Crozet on the 7th. We're doing a red-eye day trip that Saturday. TJ on 33" Trxxus, locked (D35 ) rear and winched up. We'll guide the blues for ya if we may. That new creekbed tie-in to Boulder Hiway is a great trail BTW! He's military so I gotta give 99.9% certainty... Alex had a blast last weekend, Slip-N-Slide is his favorite! Anybody else going? Dave

I too had a blast. Though I didn't wheel with the group here. It was nice meeting everyone. I am the goober that rolled on saturday. The 1st time I have ever rolled it too. The cage, tube fenders, and hoop/stinger paid for themselves in that instant. Especially since I had my friend's youngster riding shotgun. He was fully harnessed in, and I was only lap belted in. The damage was purely cosmetic, and gathering parts to get it all looking purdy is in full swing. I even managed to rip the wrap-bar mount off the axle late saturday afternoon. Even that garnered a shrug, as I have a new wider axle in works to replace the original. Hell the only thing slowing it down was needing to make a new wrap-bar mount. GOOD TIMES!!!!
