Finally made it back (thanks for hangin' with us billy! I know it was torture) after fixing broken rear d35 axle on the trail. Thanks Chris and Heather for axle. Discovered bent tie rod at Exit 136. Vibration kept us at 50 mph all the way back. That was fun! NOT! At least we didn't get a speeding ticket. Welcome to Crozet Brad. Now you know what parts you need to upgrade. Like you didn't already know. lol Good times! Dave Here's a couple shots- Poser shot new trail- Brad's introduction to Crozet was uh interesting. He did most of the "normal" blue stuff. Then, on pretty much the last section of the last trail of the day, aaaw snap! Bye-bye D35 shaft. 8.8 is next-

Glad you made it up and back safe. Gotta love those trail fixes, especially on a hot sunny day. NOT! Billy needs a couple more feet on his trailer.
BTW, you didn't eat all the wild raspberries, did you?

Sounds like fun.... I opted not to go anywhere, although I had made plans to go to O.R. but that got sidelined (sorry Chris B!). That reminds me... I guess I'll do some more looking over things when I rotate my tires to see if I have any not-so-visible damage from Crozet last month. As far as an 8.8, I'm sure you guys can find one at P-n-P, but you gotta act pretty fast it seems.

Lighten up Francis! It's not as easy for most of us to "buy their own trailer". With that comes the tow rig, paying for the rig, insurance blah blah. You already have two rigs thanks to your business. Lucky you! Anyway, vibe was due to taco'd front driveshaft. Had we not been so dang tired and busy fixing snapped axle we might have seen the busted driveshaft. it's removed now awaiting re-tube, no more vibes. Hey it kept us on our toes all the way home, right Brad?!;D

Had a great time "breaking" in my Jeep at Crozet. I appreciate you hanging with us Billy, I know the ride home was painful, but at least Dave and I got a nice back massage from the vibrations rattling through my Jeep. Dave, I can't thank you enough for everything, the guiding and the trail assist, you are top notch. Big thanks goes out to Chris and Heather for having a spare drive shaft. Turns out 7-7-07 was a lucky day!

Yeah... I'd have to agree... I know I can't afford a trailer and tow rig right now... lol. I guess I'm just happy that I can still flat tow my junk. Billy, your trailer is big enough for two rigs... maybe a tight squeeze depending on which rigs though!

Hey it kept us on our toes all the way home, right Brad?!;D First of all it's Billy not Francis. Second, those of you who say they can't afford a trailer need to belly up and buy a trading post and keep you eyes open. Third, get a credit card or tell the spouse that's what your going to do. Fourth, don't wheel Crozet because after paying for your rig to be repaired each time, you could have bought a trailer. Fifth, as for a tow rig, just go to home depot and rent their truck for $20 a day. Finally, if you are still trying to tell me you can't afford to buy a truck or trailer stick to wheeling GW, Oak ridge, or on the beach. I am not trying to be argumentative here but I just hearing a lot of belly aching. You look hard enough you can find a tow rig and trailer for under 10k.(truck trader) And 87b2xlt my trailer is not long enough for two rigs. Brad, if your jeep couldn't 't have been fixed I would have driven the Bronco home and trailered your jeep back just as I told you when you broke. You only live once, so what is a little debt. I'll be in debt with my junk for quite some time, but I am having fun while paying for it.

Billy you are right. I don't have a tow rig yet so I carry (and can install) pretty much every spare part that "normally" breaks. I also know there are others that pitch in to get things squared away. Absolutely, if you're going to wheel the good stuff you better have the good stuff! I do remember the days when I began collecting XJ parts. Now I must collect Bronco parts! Oh yea and beg for a tow or get my own junk! Do you think your dually can handle the weight of two rigs? You probably need an air bag set up with your single rear wheel truck for two rigs? You definitely "stole" that trailer!!

The best thing about a trailer is being to wheel as hard as desired without the fear of getting all the toys home. We were out this weekend which rendered my CJ unable to drive on its own. Call it what you will but I sure do enjoy having a trailer. tim, willing to help when your wheeling rig is broke. rides.webshots.com/photo/2176982080056642908PXiGcU

Tim, did you do any special suspension work to handle two rigs or just careful weight placement?

Billy... yeah, maybe my eyes deceived me a little. I've been keeping my eyes peeled on a cheap tow rig and trailer setup for future reference and plans anyhow. Maybe after this next tax season... I guess I'll just have to not wheel my junk very hard, although I'm looking forward to another trip out to Crozet. I'd at least like to find some junkyard gears and stock locking diffs in decent shape to re-gear my junk with until I can do my axle swap (I know, I know.. get it done get it done lol). If anyone happens to come across an '83-'89 Ranger or Bronco II with 4.10 gears in it at P-n-P let me know.... I'll probably take a look out there as much as I can until I find something. If you need what info and what to look for, PM me and I'll give you the axle codes for the door stickers... or you can always check the tags on the diffs themselves if they're there. Anyhow... back to topic... glad everyone made it home safe and glad to hear y'all had fun.
