The link on the main website "Tech Links" has been renamed to Tidewater Tech, and will still include links but will also feature member writeups on major projects. This board on the forums will still feature tips and techniques, but if you have anything you'd like to share for more major upgrades, please send the writeup and photos to me or Chris, and we'll post it on the main website. I've added an item there on a custom exhaust system for my TJ. groups.hamptonroads.com/pages1.cfm?page_id=12128Lyle

Lyle, How do you like the flowmasters? I just put the new Gale Banks Stinger catback on the Rubicon. So far I'm happy with the system, but I might be interested in doing a low resistance CAT like the flowmaster down the road. Let me know how it holds up. I'd love to do some more tech article type write ups as I do mods to the bronco and the rubicon, but I still need to get a digi camera...maybe one of these days I'll get around to joining the rest of you 21st century types

Hi Ken,
The muffler is Flowmaster, but the cat is made by Magnaflow. I do like the setup. It seems smoother on acceleration. In addition to the things I noted (running slightly cooler), I've also recorded a fairly significant gas mileage improvement (apx 15%). That isn't something that I was expecting, but it seems to me to be an indication that the engine is benefitting from breathing more freely.

Hey Ben, if you get a new exhaust, make sure that it has the LED's in the tailpipe. It's good for 15hp at the rear wheels. ;D

I like not having to run cats, just mufflers. I guess that is an advantage to having a 37 year old kaiser and 30 year old cruiser. Those exhuast systems should be cheap to build.

No I haven't swapped the motor in yet. I've picked up a SBC 350 though for it. I took the dog house off, took the motor/tranny/t-case/front axle and rear axle out of the Kasier. It is sitting on jack stand right now. I'm waiting for some money to put the 350/SM465/NP 203 reduction unit/NP205. I need to get the adapter for the 203 and 205.

If you want to talk about alot of shifters ask Tom, he has four in his M38A1. I could get up to seven shifters in the Kaiser. Tranny shifter, No. 1 low range, No. 2 low ranger, front wheel/4 wheel/rear wheel drive, parking brake, front PTO, and rear PTO. Talk about not keeping it simple.

You'd have to get a Label maker for all those shifters, or would Jen be the co-pilot/shifter-tech?

I could not label them, it would be a great anti-theft device. It would confuss the hell out of the thief. Jenn has two shifters in her cruiser. It is almost done.
