Just to let anyone know who is thinking of doing this swap, I swaped a 4.2 for the AMC 360. I had to cut out the oringinal motor mounts. Advance Adapters had a universal set for the 360. I have a AX-15 tranny, I bolted up the 360 then marked my engine mounts. Welded them in place. I used a pilot bearing that advance adapters made for me. AX-15 clutch and pressure plate and the internal throwout bearing that comes with the kit. I used the 4.2 starter (Had no problems) I cut and splice the distribitor wires from the 4.2 to the 360 works fine. I used the same starter relay as well. I had to get a 3 core radiator and make it work by making some brackets. I also used the stock manifold. I think I may change that but it works. I had to remove half of the old fuel lines where the flex line fits to the solid line. Also new longer lines on the power steering pump. The only probem I really ran into was the heads touching the firewall. A ballpen and shears fixed that. I have good power out of the jeep now. Probably more than I need. But it works pretty good. I found no websites or anyone else who had done the swap. So hopefully this will help a few of you thinking about it. TEXT

Heres a question, I dont know what type of Wrangler you have but I know that its posible to put a 360 in the older Wrangler but my Q is will a 390 fit into a 83 CJ7.. The 360 and 390 are basically the same (interchanging parts) except for the block.. I have a built 390 sitting in Indiana and I looking to buy a CJ7 but the I6 is bad..

XTrmXJ,
You may get better response to your question if you post it in the Tech Forum.
