Hey gang, I was wondering where all the local Junkyards are that you all grab your parts from. Maybe we should collect a listing for parts. Rob is looking for Full widths for the XJ to keep him busy. Also some free to cheap TJ flares and any other part a jeeper may need. BEN

I do a lot of my parts grabbing at a place called Brandywine. It is in Maryland just outside of DC. They specialize in Jeeps and have a buttload. Locally, U-Wrench-It gets XJ's and Grand Wagoneers in from time to time. Jack

Pete's auto salvage yard in Newport News has about 50 XJ's to choose from. He keeps pretty good lists on them too as to year make and model. Every time my wifes 88 XJ breaks, I go shopping at Petes.

U-Wrench-it in Va Beach always has tons of XJs and often has a couple of Waggys. Lately they had a YJ and CJ as well as a smattering of ZJs. CAP and CAR in Richmond and Petersburg are just like UWI and they usually have more Scouts and ZJs and stuff like J10s occasionally. I go to Petes as well for stuff....he has some good old school stuff. But the stuff I want, he knows is worth more than just some misc part and tends to charge accordingly sometimes. Other times, I have walked out of there with practically a chunk of gold for pennies. I have been to Brandywine as well....good place, fairly good prices on most stuff. Also, Crazy Rays just in between DC and Baltimore has a ton of XJs and plenty of ZJs and Waggys as well as the occasionaly Scout and CJ. Also, they often get Ford fronts in there including HP D44s and D60s.

The experiance we have had at Johnsons begins with them asking full price however the owner enjoys to haggle and in the 3-4 times we have been there we have always gotten him down 40-50% from what he origionally asked for the parts.

I've gotten a bunch of parts from Metro Auto Parts across from the Suffolk Airport. The manager is named Willoughby and he's a great guy. He'll let you walk the yard and grab your own parts. Or, they'll remove them. He also knows exactly what's available so no wild goose chases. If he doesn't have it he'll also go on the squak box and try to find it locally for you. I'm done going to Johnson's. The last THREE times they promised to have a part I needed and didn't. They were also rude, and once swore that I didn't know what I was looking for. There are a LOT better places to look.
