Need to upgrade your steering box on the TJ. Heres a tip, You can use a steering box from a 98 - 99 Dakota or 99 Durango 4WD with a 318 V8 engine. It has a bigger cap on the end than the stocker, and a quicker ratio. 3 turns lock to lock vs the stock 3.5. Here is a picture of an old box next to the new one. It may be hard to tell the difference, but the new shiny one is bigger than the old one by 1/2 inch on the end. The steering box is a direct bolt in. The only hard part is pulling the old pitman arm off and installing it on the new box. The benefit is better steering power. * If the pic doesn't display just PM me and I will send it to you.

Another trick is to get one from a 2005 TJ with the lines as well.
It's a much better unit than the earlier TJs.
Or go to Autozone and get the box with the lifetime warranty for $150.

The durango/dakota box new at autozone is 175.00 + core. All Wranglers share the same part number for the steering gear box per the 2003 Parts Manual. #52088993AC The only exception to this is the RHD Wranglers which use part #52088994AC It's possible that all 03+ have a better steering box, I don't know.
