As far as "making" a "variable-speed" saw out of a single-speed... would you want something like a stepped-speed, or something that varied speed by other means, like a knob you can turn or a variable-speed by how much you push the "switch"? Wouldn't surprise me if a variable-speed drill switch or similar could be swapped in. I'd have to do some research, but it's possible... for fairly cheap... I would think not more than maybe $20 for parts... but then again, I don't know if a variable-speed trigger switch would cost more or not.

P.S. How's California treating ya, Rich? Been a few years since I've been down in SoCali and sometimes I miss it... except for the idiot drivers and traffic. Wait... I have enough of that here to remind me... ! ;D

A knob to adjust the speed would be nice... I figured it wouldn't run much to make... a snip here a snip there... braze this and braze that... and walla. As for SoCali... I love it... THE MOUNTAINS/HILLS are rocky nothing major but looks like it could create some good times! ;D People can't drive here!!!! You people think Va is bad.... ha! You should come here and look at all of the accidents when it barely rains... Traffic jams beyond belief!!!! The weather is always Sunny the average daily temp around so far is low to mid 70's... some days it'll sneak up to low to mid 80's... ;D

Hahaha... people can't drive in the rain out here, either.... or so it seems to me... I've successfully avoided several accidents since I've lived here in VA... during the "heavy rains" I can see if it were Hurricane weather... but sheesh. Glad to see that SoCali hasn't changed much... anyhow, back towards topic.... I can take a look and see what it'd take. Big thing to consider is the power draw on the motor as far as how beefy the parts will need to be. I'll also look into the replacement V-S trigger type switches. OH, and yes, the mountains, hills, beaches down there make for some good times. Lots of "resorts" and whatnot down there, especially up north of LA. If you get a chance.... check 'em out.
