I wouldn't call that a muffler misfortune... Ok... a cat calamity then? ;D Whatever it was, it sure did sound impressive from back where I was standing!

Umm. Not a heat shield problem. But since I replaced the tranny mount, the cat sounds like a tin can half full of rocks being dragged down a concrete road. And why is it that no one lists the cat as available on a 5+ year old vehicle. I was told that "due to the fact that it is an OBDII vehicle you have to go to the dealership. Meineke told me that they would replace it for $250-260. But I bet you anything they replace it with a universal fit cat and cut the old one out. Jonathan - did you get that thing squared away yet?

Well Lyle your in luck, they have a distributor down this way in Lynchburg and their prices don't look that bad.. Iv see some mufllers with a second sheet of metal to act as a skid. Thats somthing the yJ might need in the future. Allready have some dents in the one I have know and the previous had the same fate till expoding on Christmas day last year
