Wow, that was sad. I am glad it was professionally written. The writer didn't knock the sport but made wise observations that would help others continue in the sport. That is better than someone restricting the land.
Interesting it was written by the ACC!

I'll chime in here too. I think that you have to know when to say when. Safety equipment is very important but you have to use common sense. If not for yourself but for those you may leave behind to deal with your loss of life. I think we have become a society that has become numb to many things. I'm sorry to hear a story like this that ends in such a manner.

That is better than someone restricting the land. Interesting it was written by the ACC! I agree, Joshua. Well written, with good points we can all take away. What sticks with me is this quote: "If you attempt extreme sports, don’t reduce your margin of safety by using low quality safety gear. It’s important to remember that you pay for what you get, and what you get may save your life." I'll admit that I had not really thought of it in that way before, but I always will now. Jonathan, I agree with what you said, but... how many of us really know when to say when? Remember, in the article, they point out the victim was an experienced wheeler who had instructed others. I think we are all capable of saying "ok, just one more try", when we really shouldn't. Most often, that simply results in broken hardware, but sometimes, the result of a split second decision can be much more serious. Lyle

I guess that I feel (not that I haven't done stupid things and probably will again) that if I hadn't made it in 3 attempts that it ain't going. Let me be clear here, I am not putting this guy down. Sometimes we just need to back down and take a breather and look at it again. It's sad when you read stories like this.
