It was the second Police bike build episode...Anyhoo Mickey took their Chevy Pickup out to his Dad's cabin site that he's building and got the truck stuck in his Dad's 1/2 filled pond...So he call Paul Sr. they come out there with the Hummer, a 1 ton dodge dually and a bunch of chain WITH Hooks on the ends...to pull the truck out they put the chain hook on the Trailer ball in the bumper on the chevy, then hooked the other end to the Safety chain part of the 2" receiver on the 1 ton dodge...then pulled the truck out at mach 3...man scarry stuff watching that...was just waiting for that trailer ball to snap off and whack one of those idiots in the side of the head...only thing missing was for it all to start off with." hey...hold ma beer" Hope they stick with building choppers and stay off the 4wd trails.

Hey Ken!
Yeah, I saw that. I think it was earlier in the same episode that Vince is welding and has his welding helmet on. Meanwhile Mikey is watching the weld over Vinces' shoulder... no helmet, no glasses, no nuttin. Those guys are nuts!

It makes me wonder what did'nt make the final cut for each show. Sorry, but safety doesn't sell.

I saw that too. I wonder how much of the "pond" incident would have made it on TV had something gone really wrong.

Before I started wheeling with groups, chains and a "snug" attachment point were the standard for me. Now that I look back we had many a chain go on us. I have never seen a properly maintained strap break.

Before I started wheeling with groups, chains and a "snug" attachment point were the standard for me. Now that I look back we had many a chain go on us. I have never seen a properly maintained strap break. I've also never seen a properly maintained chain break when used properly. Some people think it's cool to just slam it home when recovering a vehicle. NO. I was always taught, especially when using a chain or anything metal in the mix, hell, even with tow straps... to ease out the slack until it's taught, then ease into the recovery pull, whether you're using a winch or another rig to pull on something. This is also how I was taught to pull logs and/or trees / tree stumps. Not saying that I'm against straps... I prefer using them over chains, but I know I can safely use whatever's available, because my grandfather and uncles taught me the right way to do things *shrug* Yeah, I agree that those crazy guys on A/C definitely do some oddball stupid stuff. It's amazing how many shops I've been around that don't practice safety 100% of the time, too. It usually takes that one slip-up for people to learn... we hope!
