Dave where are the ends of the bumper. She can't drive with out them to protect the trees. Tony Oh yeah looks good. Lol that's funny right thar! I figure the rubber will do less damage to the tree at least. It may just climb up it though! ;D

Yep. It will protect rad and hood and hopefully prevent complete rollover (upon slow roll) plus provide a spot for spotter strap. Pics to follow as photodump comes up. I changed plate to bar in radius for cleanliness of stinger and added bash plate/stiffener at bottom. Still need to tie in to fenders (Monday).

*scratches head*...
if you tie the bumper into the fenders... upon any run in with the rocks or trees, given the strength of the bolts and the tube/sheet metal of the fenders, if given enough force... the entire thing should buckle...? Thereby not just taking out the stinger but the fenders/hood too, depending on the force/crush angle.
Also curious, with a lot of the trails we have, in the event of a roll over, that stinger is way out there... rocks are pretty tight knit together. The Apex is a good high point, given she rolls on somewhat flat ground, but more than likely, it won't be, and those rocks will manage to fit behind the stinger and crush it all? I could see more of a structural hoop or bumper/grille setup like Toys by Troy has being more functional...?
Not to bash your ideas, your stuff obviously works... But I'm just thinking outloud/involuntarily picking someone's brain.
Oh yeah, and who'd you get the tube bending work done from?

There are way too many variables involved. You just try and cover the most important issues at hand. For design, I don't just pull ideas out of my b@#t, I do a little research into what some of the other companies are doing and what has worked for them and apply that into my builds. No I'm not an engineer. Having the front tied in together strengthens the whole assembly. If she rolls the fenders and everything in front would be toast anyway. This gives her a means to attach a strap for steep ascents, protect vital parts (the rad) so she can drive off trail, etc etc. The front plate is angled which well help ramp up onto stuff. I have wheeled (and put her over some sick stuff for 33's) with Michele for a while now, I know what she can use. By the way, I bent it. Come and play with us sometime grasshoppa... ;D

Dave, Think you be interested in building a front bumper for my heep? I keep looking online for something I like but the prices are all pretty ridiculos....If I had a welder I'd probably just build my own and be done with it.

Yes, a hoop that goes along hood line helps protect the rad very well btw. Didn't mean to flog. If she hits a tree or something hard enough to crush the tube fenders, well, then maybe she should try slowing down! lol If you're interested in seeing how I do the bends I'll be doing another one in a week or so. Feel free to come and check it out....
