I guess you have to take the whole thing out now and paint it? I guess we'll need some good weather for that too.

Loookeeeen gooooood mayng! Are you guys going to set it up for 5-point harneses or more "stock"? Also couldn't really tell if the cage is set up to go through the floorboard and to the frame or not, but it looks pretty sweet and set up very well. I still gotta get over that way sometime or hook up with ya at this month's meeting. Anyhow, if it's not too cold and things behave nicely, maybe I can undo my screw-up on the driver's side cable. If it doesn't want to play nicely... I may end up replacing them all ;D It will be tied in to frame. Stock shoulder harness will be used, tied in to cage. Sandwich plates will be used on floor so it can be unbolted from frame ties and removed for later work. Michele, I need to find seat belt mounting points and tack on tabs, then pull cage, finish weld and paint. Then re-install, drill holes for mount bolts and make sandwich plates for underneath floorboards for frame tie-ins. Almost there...yaaay! Pics added to top 09Dec06... Pics added to top 12Dec06...

Going back to your pics on bending up the TC skid -- have you considered using the abrasive cutoff discs for a circular saw, that way you can just set depth and clamp on a rip fence to do your scoring? Might take two passes to get depth even all the way because of blade wear. I picked up a couple, may try that when I get to doing my front bumper ...

I used to do that (just the skilsaw part) but it is easier on the ol' arms using the angle grinder and 1/16" cut-off wheel. I just mark the score line and run the grinder kinda light down the first pass then go at it. When you can see a little bluing on the bottom it's about right for bending! Pics added to top 15Dec06...

Dave,
If you leave the Jam Nut loose the threads will also wear the tube out and have lateral movement and eventally pull out. Doesn't the bushing have enough movement. I guess you could ramp it tightened and in the loose state.

Hi Paul! Yea I figured I'd get that eventually, haven't played around on the ramp yet though to test loose/tight differences. I may stick heims on and tighten the jam nut if it's an issue. We'll see. I figure by the time they wear out he'll want coils or something back there anyway! ;D

Yes, Michele the B&M Starshifter set up works good. Also, for those curious, the anti-wrap control arms we used from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard DO NOT hinder travel. It's still hitting 1000 (back tire touches ramp). They really tightened up the back, too. No more clanking and clunking when putting the tranny in gear. ;D

Clanking and clunking when putting an auto in gear usually means driveshaft length / U-joint / torque converter issues.... but then again, being lifted as high as it is...
So, did Billy take it up this weekend? Has it been christened yet? ;D

So, did Billy take it up this weekend? Has it been christened yet? ;D I agree with above, however, all that stuff is new and/or correct. ;D Axle wrap on EB'S whether lifted or stock is commonplace and fixed with anti-spring wrap devices. Stock springs are very soft ie; that's why EB's flex so well out of the box. One day we may put on 11 leaf Deaver's which would help the wrap but it flexes great with 5 leaf set up and now we have the wrap under control so why bother. I'm shooting for the Crozet trail building weekend for first run on Billy's junk, hopefully he'll be onboard with that. I'm going regardless... pics added to top 16Jan07...
