Thanks, Chuck! Well, I'm guessing the front end settled some, so, I'm probably going to have to bump it up 1/2"-1" and level it out somehow, and if it still has clearance issues while turning the front wheels, I guess I'll be calibrating some sheetmetal, which I may do "for now" anyhow. I also will probably get new u-bolts for the rear axle as well as new greaseable leaf spring / shackle bolts, and when I install them and get things leveled out (and if I can get shocks in by then, install them), I'll probably then rotate the tires, as the front ones are previously unevenly worn (and noisy), then have it aligned... then maybe find somewhere to take some poser shots! ;D (Somehow, I doubt it'll flex much, but we'll see)

UPDATE: Axle swap is still TBD, all depends on when Dave P gets his old axles out and new ones in (not bustin' on ya, Dave, I swear!! Let me know when we're ready to start your axle swap..!). Got some more pieces of the puzzle, so to speak, today: 4 15x7 used wheels for rolling chassis mock-up / spares (Thanks again, Paul Cleary!), 4 15x8 new wheels & 1 15x10 spare (Thanks again, Jon!). If anyone needs the 15x10 wheel, let me know and we'll figure something out.
On another note, for now progress is on hold, but may be doing some intermediate things prior to axle swap, at the very least getting the @#$%^&*! camber and caster set so the current tires don't wear all screwy. I may opt for long add-a-leafs to replace the overloads out back and find some useable "springy" TJ/XJ front coils (OR just put the old coils in and put in 2" spacers) to swap in and level everything out. Project is somewhat "as needed" status, as we are going through the process of buying the house we are currently renting. Axle swap may have to wait until Summer, Fall, or Winter, depending on finances. Hoping to be giving Dave P a hand with his swap in the near future so we can get his EB on a rolling chassis and then figure out who/what/where/when/how/why from there.

Hi Dave! I've been pretty swamped with work so I haven't really been able to concentrate on my junk, other than keeping an eye out for D60's. On that note, I'll try to order my leaf springs and perches this week so i can get the 10.25 under it and get the 9" to you to have fun with. I do need 2 rims to put on the axle so the Bronco will be mobile. I'm stretching the rear so I need to torch the spring mounts on the frame, plate the frame then weld spring mounts back on about 5" back...

UPDATES: 1) Shifted image hosting to a photobucket account (geocities has limitations, and people couldn't always see pictures) 2) Axle swap is somewhat shelved at the moment, due to financial constraints, until I can re-budget after we close on the house and recoup from the first 3-6 months, however, going to be getting some of the to-be-swapped in pieces and parts from Dave P in the next few weeks (again, thanks for the heads up, Dave!) 3) Phase I/pre-Phase II stuff is going to be done as soon as possible. Some things that need to be addressed (still) are: - break upper leaf shackle bolts free and replace (I believe this is the crux of other issues, including front end alignment - replace the rear axle U-bolts - check/break free the front ball joints / radius arm bushings and align to specs - shocks (may hold off, may be an unnecessary expense) - rotate tires / check brakes and front bearings (I think one of the bearings is a bit tight, and I need to pull rear drums off to check my parking brake issues that came up @ 2nd Mt.)
Hopefully, I can maintain my sanity between things here at home and at work, as well as get some stuff done to my junk.... I'm still heavily weighing things on going to O.R. next weekend as well as Big Dogs... probably going to be "inventory-ing" stuff to get my mock-up wheels & tires ready and pre-Phase II junk done and get a little clean-up and organizing done around here. All for now....

Good news, I saved a bunch of money by switching... oh, wait... that's not where I was going with this post!
Anyhow, picked up the 9" complete rear axle with pretty much everything attached to it (except for the rear driveshaft!) when it came out from under Dave P's '66 EB as well as his old front coils (which were the lightest part of that whole gamut!). I forgot how heavy a completely assembled 9" rear axle was, but with the help of a floor jack and determination, we got it loaded up and I was on my way after a little bit of shootin' the breeze with the man. Going to get it cleaned up a little and in "storage condition" as soon as I can ... ended up wrapping up the brake line ends and the vent hole since it was raining like mad, and I didn't want a bunch of water in there. It was good seein' ya and talkin' with ya, Dave... thanks again for workin' with me on this and all the help so far. Let me know when you need help and if my schedule allows, I'm THERE. Pictures to follow.....

Decided to do a little "prep work" today. Removed the leaf springs, blocks, traction bars and old shocks (mostly so people driving by the house don't see things sticking out and get curious, if ya know what I mean). I'm guessing the lift that was on Dave P's EB was Rancho.... Here's a few of everything all together, sitting in the bed of the Nissan: Leafs, blocks, and traction bars removed (note the shocks are Rancho RS5000s, as shown in the 3rd picture): Picture of the part number for the rear shocks for future reference: A couple pictures of everything all apart, still sitting in the bed of the truck: After taking everything off, took a few quick and dirty measurements and compared to the existing 7.5" axle that's still in the BII, my two options are to fab up leaf spring mounts for underneath the frame rails and locate shock mounts outside the frame rails, or remove and install new shock mounts and spring perches on the 9" axle housing (center-to-center measurements on spring perches are 4" difference, and the existing shock mounts on the 9" are too wide apart to be feasible). Haven't decided just yet what the plan is going to be, but the lesser of two evils would be something along the lines of the latter option, and I may go ahead and use Ranger/BII rear leaf packs (or use pieces and parts from what I have now to effect the desired ride height in the rear to save expenses) vice relocating the spring mounts on the frame. Now to get a cherry picker and pull the axle out of the bed and relocate it to the "designated storage area" on the back patio! EDIT: After I figure out which way I'm going with the swap, some parts may come available... I'll post 'em when the time comes.

I haven't visited this thread in a while, but anyhow... got word at the last meeting that sometime in the next couple of months I should have the 44 in hand. I did get the 9" axle unloaded from my Nissan... with a little help from my stepson Chris and his friend Mike (yeah, they didn't think it would be -THAT- heavy, but we got it out and put in 'storage'.
Anyhow, not much going on with this project, other than today. The UPS man delivered some shiny new parts in the form of a '95 Neon SOHC cold air intake kit... which, minus a few parts will fit on the BII! Got it all on and then drove it around the block and thought I was driving the 'yota... definitely some noticeable improvements in throttle response! Of course, in the process I cleaned up the throttle body and as much else as I could without taking the time to tear the upper intake plenum off and everything apart. I'll post pics of the 'bling' later. Now, to figure out how to set it up for installing a snorkel... ;D

could you please get some pics up I am interested in how it looks and where the filter sets I just reused the stock hose with the spring inside but would like to use the aluminum pipe instead. could you also post a link to the unit that you bought

Here's some pictures of the cold air intake installed: I am probably going to be doing some tuning-up and other routine maintenance things this weekend, especially since I found the other fuel filter location... it probably hasn't been replaced in a while and wouldn't surprise me if it needs it. I may go all out and get a dremel and do the intake modifications while I'm at it... all depends on the weather. One note / suggestion on doing a mod like this, though... if you have access to a pipe bender, get the aluminum piping and filter and go with at least a 2 3/4" piping setup, or preferrably 3" as the one poly connector at the throttle body is a pain in the rear to get on the throttle body as it's slightly larger than the 2 1/2" piping -- OR, if you can find a similarly configured 2 3/4" or 3" kit, get that. It does give a little gain though... and on your '89 (?), your best bet is to get the earlier model larger throttle body and do a mod like this, Bryan... speaking of, do you still have your old engine... in particular the upper intake? Wondering if it's a semi-direct swap as I am toying with getting a later-model computer and upper intake getting rid of the EGR (which will be coupled with an MSD ignition addition, so I'm not so worried about having unburned fuel / vapors in the exhaust). As far as a link, you can just go on eBay and search for a 95 neon SOHC cold air intake and it'll give you several to choose from. I opted for the BOMZ Racing one because it wasn't too expensive and had the style filter I prefer (only cost me like $46-48 with shipping).

Hi Dave! The 14 bolt is basically in, need to install dual rear wheel studs and longer e-brake cables/make them work with EB front cable or do center-style lever. As soon as I complete the front long-arms and put the D60 back together, you'll be getting the front axle. It will only take an hour or so to gut out the front. Could very well be the end of the month (yea THIS month!lol) PaulC that driveshaft fit great, thanks again, just have to see how it holds up now. It kinda looks like it belongs on a, uh, Jeep, if you know what I mean!! lol Dave

Thanks for the heads up, Dave! Let me know if you need a hand on anything, and if I'm not otherwise committed, I'm there. I'm looking at possibly this Fall or at the latest Winter on doing this swap, depending on my schedule and other possible plans. I was going over possibilites on "hybrid drivetrain parts" as well, at least to get it driveable. I know I'm going to have to work some magic for the parking brake myself, may just go ahead and buy all new cables. Again, thanks for the heads up and let me know. I guess it's time to start getting some pieces and parts together.... hoping for a couple of runs in between pier tags after things are put together....

Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything here. The project is currently shelved due to my schedule, among other things. I have all of this month 'free' as far as not having to go to sea, but there's not going to be much free time for much of anything, but we'll see.

Dave, I've got one long arm ready for welding now. When I take your front end out I'm going to need to know if you are trying to get the radius arms with it or not. It shouldn't be too long now, prolly end of next week if my other rims get here.

Dave, Yes, if I could get the radius arms and frame mounts with the axle, that would be fantabulous! If you can't salvage the mounts, that's alright as well. I was going to call or message you to see if you were going to be doing anything on your EB this weekend or not. I have things to do, but I can still fit in time to swing down that way and help out, provide moral support, shoot the breeze, etc. Just an FYI, though, I no longer have the parts runner anymore... it went back to Washington, so we may need an extra hand or two loading it into my 'yota. Still trying to plan use of what inport time I'll have to maybe at least get the axles in and my junk on a rolling chassis and go from there, unless I have to postpone that indefinitely. I miss having close direct access to a well-equipped shop... Anyhow, let me know... I'll probably call you this weekend. Dave G

Just a quick post to update.... seems like work schedules and things have kind of put the axle swap on hold still, however... I've been able to score some non-suspension or drivetrain parts via eBay and otherwise. As soon as the nice UPS man and mailman deliver, I will be installing an MSD 6 Offroad ignition box and Taylor Blue Spiro-Pro wire set. I scored the MSD off eBay for $192.50 including shipping -- it's new out of the box, even! That's about $65 cheaper than ordering from Summit. I may also order the TFI 'pretty' harness from Summit (so I don't have to butcher any wiring) as well as a Magnaflow catalytic converter this next week. I still want to fabricate an enclosure box around my intake filter -- anyone good with sheetmetal? I think I have some old ducting up in the attic I can use. Dave P, sorry about missing connection with ya these last few times... been trying to concentrate on getting things done around the house, I have a lot of unnecessary stuff to get rid of before March. Anyhow, gotta get ready to head out to Harold's. All for now....
Dave G
