Anyone know a good contractor for building an additional room to our house.
Also does anyone know the approximate cost per square foot to add on.

Talk to Steve Anderson, he did Gary's garage and will probably be doing our addition if I ever get the plans done.

It will probably be either an office or another bedroom. Paul doesn't want to move the current office/guest room to the playroom because Connor has way to many toys. But either way we need to make room for Madeline.

Isn't your house part of a duplex? Can you add on to it as is?

Josh, That has nothing to do with it , it just means that we can't build to the right of our house, unless we really want to piss the neighbors off. We have plenty of room from our property line to build to the left and to build to the back, and still have a fairly large yard. Paul was thinking of adding on to the garage to make it a two car and then adding the extra room on top of the garage. I don't know he has so many crazy ideas running through his head, he wants to finish the attic too, and extend the driveway. I think the driveway is fine, we can easily fit 5 cars in it, but he is full of all these big ideas. But I guess that's why I love him. Jenn

Ok, now I'm offended. That was Josh, not me, thanks a lot. My sincerest apologies Johnathan :: , I seem to be mixing quite a bit up lately. They both start with J's. Besides, I think that I call Josh, Johnathan all the time, I just don't realize that I am calling him the wrong name till later. They say that in being pregnant, the baby sucks all the brains out of you. Ask Paul, I get our anniversary and his birthday mixed up all the time. The other day I put the salt in the fridge, at least Paul says that I did, because he didn't.

Yeah, I have been polite when ever I talk to you....cuz you always call me Jonathan but I never have bothered to correct ya. Its cool. As to the duplex thingy, my concern was that with a shared property line being essentially your wall, you might have to be careful. My family and I have owned several homes and done large additions to them, built fences, decks, etc. And each time there is some corny neighbor that doesn't want you to build something close to them or whatever. I would just check first to see if that person has any extra say since they "share" essentially the same building with you....they might complain and have the city come after you. I am just talking from experience.

Josh, Jonathan, Hey you,
Josh (for real),
I have talked with the neighbors already and they are cool with it. Also we don't belong to any home owners ass., thank god. Also we have a big enough yard where we can grow a little.
