Measuring for new fenders and flares. A lot of trimming to do. More puzzle pieces. And even more. They turn into steering box protection. And the new winch mount. If anyone is looking for a "mildly" used tomken TJ winch plate (Viewable at the beginning of this thread, that the fantastic Warn winch is mounted to) that I bought from Chris B, it is now for sale.

Karl, That thing is going to be even sicker when you guys are done..... that's some nice work! I could only wish I could get to that point with any rig....... ..... although I got one in mind that would be a prime candidate ;D Can't wait to see the finished product on this Dave G

Stroll through some of Karl's posts, Josh.... he and his buddies out in the PNW don't do anything 'light-heartedly'..... they go all out! You should see what they did to a perfectly good XJ Dave G

Wow...just, wow!
Is that someone's personal garage you are working in, or is that a professional shop?

What have we here? When I was pulling the front diff out for a check, I noticed the front detroit had the case bolts back out of it. Only 2 runs and this had happened. A few of the bolts had run through the ring and pinion. No major damage, I'm going to run it this way until I can afford my D60 build (If and when the wife abides). No damage to the guts of the detroit. Problem solved, not happening again.

Problem solved, not happening again. You'd think that would be part of a normal install.... that's weird that the bolts backed out the way they did. Not enough torque applied? No locktite or other thread locker, etc.? It's pretty wicked that the bolts ran through the internals and nothing got terribly messed up, other than the bolts! Dave G

It's more common than you think with a 2 piece locker design and the amount of housing flex we get while offroading.
I have personally seen 3 of the first gen D30 arb's fall apart this way. 2 D30 detroits, and 2 or 3 Ford 8.8 ring gears come off due to housing flex.
Live and learn, and lockwire. ;D
