Hey yall fellow Jeepers, I hope everything is well! I ahve a fun story for you, Im from DCWell...Im down in VA beach for training and will be here till Sunday(I come here quite a bit), So I ordered my tires/wheels/lift/shocks/disconnects/other crap I think.....and I was going to have them installed down here and drive up back to DC with the stock wheel in the back since they are not to big. Well the shop who was going to do it said all their got pushed back and they wont be able to start it until Monday (I'll be in ANOTHER week long training at AP Hill)....so that is a no go. Im stuck on what I can do since there is no way I can put all of that in my 2 door all the way back to DC with all my shooting gear even......Ill have that saturday open where I can attempt to install the lift but Im not the most mechanically inclined though Im deecent and love to learn it!! So pelase, Im trying to call for help this Saturday from fellow Jeepers to help me out in my little crisis .

Got some more details you can share... your name, type of Jeep (2.5 inch lift is a little different on a CJ than on a TJ), what kind of shooting gear, etc. ;D

Maybe Joe at star motors can pull some strings and help the guy out. Star has there own offroad shop at the dealership. I am sure someone can throw a number up for you. I am in WV and do not have it handy. If you find a number just tell them you need to speak with Joe back in the service dept.

I might be able to help out on Sat, but I have zero experience w/ JKs, so as long as nothing special is needed, should be fairly easy. I live in Chesapeake, you can't get in my garage (XJ is in there) but we can work in my driveway. I should have all that is necessary to get it done. Are the tires mounted to the wheels or do you need to have that done?

Thanks a lot everyone for the support it is greatly appreciated! Dave, you are a life saver....and I don't think so though from what I've been reading spring compressors would be a big help....but not a must have. I do need to get the wheels/tires counted and balanced

Don't use spring compressors... They are not good for the springs!

It's not a Jeep! Sorry, can't help this weekend, I'm working. I've never wrenched on a JK but I would doubt you will need spring compressors for a 2.5" lift. And like said I wouldn't use them anyway. If you don't find any help, Joe over at Starr Motors does good work.

JK's are relatively the same as the TJ's in that they are coil-sprung and track-barred. You should easily be able to do the lift in one day since it is only 2.5 and you shouldn't have to mess with driveline angles. I doubt your kit came with adjustable control arms anyway. As soon as you take off with your newly installed kit, you will know if the rear driveshaft is off as it will either vibe at take-off or as you apply gas at cruising speed. You should be ok with 2.5". I use spring compressors (very) occassionally. If you can't lift the frame up high enough to install the new springs use a good quality pair of compressors and tighten/loosen each compressor evenly with the other. When you're ready to re-gear for the bigger tires drop me a PM. Ted and I (Ted's Automotive) just finished 4.88's and rear ARB on a '10 JK 2 door. ;D Dave
