Just got an email from Kyle and it appears that Honky was involved in a bad accident on his motorcycle.
An older woman pulled out in front of him and he T-boned the car. He's at VB General' ICU as of now. Kyle went and saw him, he' alert and talking but in a lot of pain and discomfort. Doctors say he's going to be fine.
Damage report to Honky that I know of is. Skull fractures, broken leg, broken foot, crushed heel and may need skin graf.
Let' keep Honky in our thoughts and prayers.
Thanks

Keep us informed, Andy. When he gets a regular room we can take him some lunch or something.

Count my prayers in too as I know he's going to need them. It can be a long road. I'm still recovering from mine.

Alex and I visited Honkey earlier today and he's really lucky to be alive. His brain bucket fell off somewhere mid-crash. But he's doing very well and is open to visitors. Forget the beer bring Jager. ;D Oh and please appreciate all the blessings you have, ya just never know.

Like Don and David said It's going to be a long time recovering for sure and most definitely count your blessings. Robert and I visited him Saturday and though Honky put on a good front of doing good...he's in a lot of pain and discomfort. We only stayed about 20 mins. He showed us the injuries to his leg and foot. Honky's in room 301 @ VB General Hospital. Give him a call or a short visit. He's going a little bonkers being held in a hospital room for so long and would appreciate it. Thanks All

A long time to heal may be an understatement. Crushing fractures take a long time to heal as the bone has to grow back together. I spent 8 nights in the hospital before I got home with a wheelchair. In my case they didn't find the bronken bone is my right wrist til 3 weeks after the accident. It was quite painful and 3 attempts at X-rays didn't find the break. Finally a CT scan showed the bone in 3 pieces. They said yeah it's broke. That was a "really" moment.
You may have to become familiar with PCS post concussion syndrome. Not fun either. I've had about 5 brain CT scans, a brain EEG on Monday, and a MRI being done on Thursday.
I had right knee surgery was back in May and 3 hours of shoulder surgery Aug 31st on the bad shoulder. I'm also up to about 70 physical therapy sessions with more yet to come. Right now I can barely put my right hand on my head.
If there's any help or advice I can offer give me a shout. Otherwise good luck and focus on the good, lucky to be alive thing!!
Don

I am trying to get down to see you, Honky. It might be tomorrow or Friday. I am stuck at the homestead with Joshua while Deanna is with Brandon at CHKD. Is there anything you need? Don, it is good to hear you are recovering, even if it is slowly. How is the family?

It is good to hear that you both are on the mend, even though it will be lengthy. Let us know if you need anything.

Saw Honky today...he looked much better, but his foot is still wicked jacked up....not to get to graphic he had two skin graffs done to repair his heel.... and there' still a lot that needs to be done...
He's been moved to room 303 @ VB General ph# 395-6883. With a little luck he may be going home Friday, but will still need in house care from there.
This may sound cliche, but please be careful out there.Stuff happens when least expect it.
