Newt,
Thanks for the input. The cross member is welded in, braced up to the both upper link mounts which are welded to 4" x 8" scab plates. You can see some one of the braces in the picture that shows it welded in. I will tie the bottom of the cross member to the bottom of the frame rail, thank for that input, and also brace the front of the cross member with two more pieces of tube and scab plates.

Hey Eddie what's up? Thanks. Got the winch mount done today. Also finished the U-bolt flips plates. Big J made the two plates on the right and I made the upper plates. Hopefully I'll get the U-bolts made tomorrow and these installed. PaulC

Here are the U-bolts flip plates painted and installed. Thanks Big J for making the bottom plates. Got the U-bolts made at Springs Menders in Norfolk, walked in told them what I wanted and 10 mins later had them in my hand. Before: After: PaulC

Another day more progress. Made the front shock mounts and welded them in. Still need to install the bump stops. It has 4.5" compression and about 7 inches extension. Finally the front end is done. Got the tries on and sitting at ride height. Plenty of room for 38-40 inch tires later on without lifting it more. That is if Jim buys some. PaulC

End of week update. Got quite a bit of the rear suspension mocked up and in place. Just need to final weld it together. Had to narrow up the back area to get more up travel. Also need to rework the passenger side spring mount bar. PaulC

Got the axle mounts, lower links and new additions to rear frame welded up. Flexed it out to measure for bump stops and shock mount. The front tire is up 24"s. PaulC

How often do you anticipate the rear coils popping out?

I anticipate they won't pop out at all once I bolt the spring retainers in. Also we'll probably get some limit straps also to help protect the shocks.

A little update. Got the fuel tank mounted. Spare tire mount made. Rear bump stop buckets and stops in. Also you can see the spring retainers so the springs won't pop out. A side view. Just enough room to mount a 38.5 later on. PaulC

Fabricated the taillight panels today. Outside holes for brake lights, middle holes for turn signals, and the inside holes for the reverse lights. The lights we're using are Napa 2" round trailer lights. PaulC

Looking great! What axle is that? Why is the center section offset?
No gusset on the tire mount?

Looking great! What axle is that? Why is the center section offset? No gusset on the tire mount? I thought he had a Model 20 floater. My concern would be the stock tubes.

Keith,
I'm not really concerned with the spare mount. All the mount really does is hold the tire in place. The weight of the tire and wheel is resting on the "frame". What concerns do you have?
Norm,
It is a Model 20 with the Warn full floater hubs and shafts. The truss helps with the tubes twisting. After everything is set up I'm going to brace up between the truss and spring mounts. Unless someone happens to have a SJ rear Model 20 housing it is there for the time being. Anyone?!?!
Again thanks for the comments.
