Is VA4WDA putting their considerable land use/legal fund to work helping fight for Crozet?
What can we do to help?

We (the BOD at RCPFA) are working on a new membership structure, but if you are a member, please PM or call Chris Packard on rcpfa.com if you want to come up to wheel. There are no events in the near future, but keep tuned to rcpfa.com for updates.

Interesting. " McCulley said. "It's not like it's changed the landscape. There's more evidence of cattle on the property than vehicles." Hopefully things will work out.

what bothers me is they are concerned about someone driving in the stream but not the cow's that do their duty everywhere up there and then washes into the stream every time it rains. Pardon the pun but that's utterly ridiculous.

Here's a note about the current status of Crozet and RCPFA, reposted w/ permission. The RCPFA BOD has been working with the law firm of Williams Mullen to clarify and define how RCPFA can use the property at Crozet. It is clear that we can use it, but it is not exactly clear how often or what to call that use, etc. It may seem like we have not been very communicative in the last few weeks about this issue, but truth be told the BOD are just reacting to new information as it is available. In short we will not have any events at Crozet for a few weeks, but we anticipate setting a summer date for the EOD wounded warrior run and then 2-3 other charity runs later in the year. Wheeling at the Crozet property will change in its nature, and will probably only be available to non members for a small number of charity events per year. The club will continue to schedule trail cleanups and other members only dates once an understanding is reached with the county. The Williams Mullen Law Firm is the preeminent zoning firm in the area and their first meeting with the zoning board this week went well. We anticipate getting a written opinion from the zoning board in the next 1-2 weeks (best guess) and we will fill everyone in on the news as we get it. Please take a moment to help RCPFA with its legal costs, donate at rcpfa.com/misc/donate.htm, I know times are tight, but the club is looking at a few thousand in legal costs to resolve this all and will need members support to do this. Sincerely, Hayden

Are any of the BOD headed to Wheeling For Hope at Oakridge this weekend? It may be a good chance to talk to a large number of the wheeling community.
Its good to hear that it looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Here's the short story: Neighbor complained to city about traffic on Bearwood Road, city and Virginia Outdoor Foundation investigated and said there was no issue with wheeling on the property, the only issue was that we (RCPFA) cannot collect money on site for daily fees as it looks like people are paying to use the property, which makes it a commercial property (zoned agricultural). Zoning ordinace said that we were not allowed to hold "off-roading event", we hired an attorney to ask for the definition of an event which has not been determined yet. Leaseholder got scared and cancelled the lease, please see www.rcpfa.com for details. Thanks, Dave
