You know, I was totally into that page until I noticed the pictures of the models, and not real trucks... around the paragraph that was titled, "Off Road Prowess". That was kind of humorous there towards the end. I am partial to Cummins diesels, regardless.

Being a Chevy owner...I think he's a little off on his torque #'s!
Oh bye the way, I'll line up against any Dodge:) I like watching a grown man cry! (of course this would be the Dodge owner)

He was using 2005 specs, those are 2006 I believe. He was only of 5ftlb of torque for the Chevy. I love the CTD, it has been tried. GM still has a ways to go to get the rep of the CTD. Ford lost it once they went to the 6.0 powerjoke, with all it's problems!
2007 will be a new year for all!

having a reliable, powerful engine is great as long as you just look at it. Dodge can't reliably get the power to the ground. Dodge could leave the entire truck alone (no new year upgrade) and put a real transmission under it and out sell both Ford and Chevy. But they don't. And all you die hard inline folks,,, here comes a V-8.
Put the allison behind the CTD and I would be driving a Dodge!!!

Dodge can't reliably get the power to the ground. Hey, all that money we save on engine mods can go towards a tranny rebuild. ;D

Me to!
But I do like my Chevy! I'm finally starting to get some fuel milage out of her. I got 17.9 mpg on the way back from CT last week at 70 mph pulling my jet ski! That's a all time high for my truck.

From what I've read about the new 6.7CTD dodge has taken the transmission issues to heart. Aparently they are building a new transmission and try to build it bigger and beefier the Allison. It will ultimately come down to quality of build though. I don't think DC as well as Chevy and Ford are as concerned about quality as some of the other manufacturers and I think that's going to be thier downfall.

only the 3500s and fleet vehicles will get the asin 6 speed auto this is a hybrid mix of allison and another company, the 2500 will get a new "in house" developed auto 68RFE that is suppose to stand up to the TQ.

Dare I even say it.... real men drive manual transmission trucks! ;D But anyhow... I'd rather have the Dodge over any of the others. They were the first and have had many more years in the market. Plus, I know of several first-year Cummins-equipped Dodges that are still on the road. Isuzu (GM Duramax) has had numerous diesel engines over the years, and they are a close second in my book, only because of the Allison tranny. I've never been a fan of the Ford Powerchoke. My second most favorite diesel engine of any kind would have to be a CAT. Just my $0.02 ;D

real men drive what? Some don't worry about that and look for pure towing capacity, the allison tows more than the chevy standard transmission. See Ford and Dodge has everyone confussed because with them you have to get the standard transsion, or buy the extended warranty that allows replacements every 60K. Correct me if i am wrong but Dodges first diesel was in 1989?? Ford has had diesels at least as far back as 1986. We will act as though Chevy's first diesel is the duramax and we all know why. Cummins has been doing "diesel" much longer than other but not this small. 5.9 liters??? maybe in one cylinder.

Okay... backtrack... Chevy/GM had the God-awful 6.2 back in 1982. Ford's first diesel was in 1983. Dodge introduced the first CTD-equipped 3/4 and 1-tons in 89. Now, that being said, I'll recant a little here. Dodge was the first to introduce a RELIABLE turbo-diesel light truck and I know of several first-year trucks still on the road, both automatic and standard. I think the misconception is the fact that people expect when they put their foot through the floorboard to have a dragster that can tow 10,000 lbs. Towing is not about speed. If it were, they would have made semi tractor-trailer rigs with faster acceleration.... and with V-8 diesels. Or something.
