Ok folks, I know a couple of you tried to make the Crozet run this weekend, but couldn't at the last minute. That's ok because I'm sure there'll be another chance soon. Since I made a good effort on the Upcoming Events list, I'll follow-up with trail report.
Sat morning we had about 12-14 folks show up, some OCC members and a few aspiring new members. 10 grouped together to drive the Blue Trail. Heather Packard lead and spotted a good mix of Jeeps, an old stock M151A2, a nearly stock CJ or two, a few TJs of various builds, and a few Rubis. At days end they all made it back with only two relatively minor issues (a broken valve stem and a whole in an oil pan (caused by a driver not listening well to his spotter)). Encouraging were the smiles, stories, compliments, and promises to be back.
Chris Packard led a small group out on a route of black obstacles. My son (driving a Toy mini) and myself (with an FJ-40) were included. As any time you venture on the Black trails a few scratches and possibly a broken part or two may happen. Well, my son Tony popped a birfield and pinched a front brake line. We had one miscalculation by a relatively new driver which caused a side role-over in a built Samurai. All were safe and we ended the weekend satisfied and with plenty of new stories and pictures. I've included a link to a sampling of the pictures I took on the Black trails. <http://tinyurl.com/4z4za> Enjoy.

Nice pictures! What happened to your son's tube buggy/Toyota thingy? I'm glad you included the picture of the tow rig, because I was wondering how you mounted the gooseneck hitch on the top of the Tahoe.

The ole Rockhopper looked good on the outside, but had a number of driveline and electrical issues. Tony decided he couldn't afford two trucks so he salvaged a number of driveline parts, put a solid axle on the 91 mini and an Inchworm second t/c. He sold off most of the other stuff and the frame got haul out to junk.
Ya, the F-250 D does well with gooseneck.
