For all of those people who chose to stay home on a sunday, they missed out on a whole bunch of fun. The trails that I drove around on were sort of like the rock garded on Oakridge #3 but somehow seemed worse. There was some body damage to the yota and the drivers window no longer rolls up all the way. I am not going to even mention that there is a good possibility that another front axle has ventured south. Besides if it has it will give me something to do this week. All and all it was a fun day and I am definately looking forward to going back.

Russ, glad you enjoyed the day. I think everyone did, lower trails and the higher stuff. You jumped on some ruff stuff this morning, I know, I've run those trails before and have a few wounds to lick. What a great day! Went something like this..... Four Tidewater folks made it up to Crozet today Jack with his YJ, Aaron with a TJ, Russ with the mini, and myself with the FJ40. We also met up with 4-5 from River City Club and a fellow OCCer. Russ chose to drive with the group over on Black trails (with Chris Packard guiding) and I (with Heather guiding) led the Blue trail group. I remember hearing from a couple folks, "this is the hardest trails I've ever been on." The day went on from there. Jack and Aaron did a great job and, I believe I can say, learned a good deal about "the choosing the line" and pushed new limits in the their rigs. Jack got his YJ on 33s, open front and ltd slip rear, over and up most of the obstacles that us folks who were locked up. I'll let them speak for themselves, but I think they both set the wheeling "hook" just a little deeper. Now the day wasn't a cake walk, by no means. We did pretty well to keep everyone from any major "rash", but I know there were a few reminders taken home by all. Aaron may have to think of a better place for his high lift - not the back bumper. Jack did remove a fender flare after a corner caught on a rock. I just added a couple more tree rashes to my roll bar. The tough spot came at the end of the day when we got Jack between a rock and tree (we pushed fate too the limit). After sliding off a rock and against a small tree with his passenger side, we applied some each talked through wheeling physics. With plan in mind, we attached two winches and a tow strap, we were able to gently pull him away from the tree and set him up on a new angle off the trail. I do appreciate Jack's patience and the teamwork by all. Now, he may have another version to this story. I may be the crazy trail guide that nearly ruined his door and paint. Ok, I don't want to make this too long. All in all it was great day to wheel, we all made new friends and learned something. I'll try and get a few pictures up soon.... Fran

Great pictures Fran. If anybody is curious about their rigs ability, go to Crozet. I've only run a couple times, but this is by far the toughest and most enjoyable trip I've had. We were never more than half a mile from the camp site (i.e. tools and parts), and there was a lot of trails to choose from. Plus, we had a guide who could not be beaten. Thanks to you too, Heather. Yeah, I want to move my Hi-lift now. Anybody have any ideas that don't affect my departure angle? Anyway, had a GREAT trip, and am planning on going back ASAP. If anybody wants to go, let me know. And thanks for setting this up Fran. Aaron Baker

This was the best wheeling I have done in a long time! It was non stop start to finish. Thanks Fran for the invite. I would love to go back.

Jack and Aaron, I know you guys were taking "happy snaps." I hope you can post them, or maybe put a couple of your best in this thread.
I know I'm looking forward to going back to Crozet next month to cut a new trail and then wheel it. It's planned to be at a similar level to what we did before lunch. Based on the voting so far, Feb 19-20 are looking very promising.

Sorry I missed it. I would have had more fun there than in the hospital. I went to the Dr. and they said I need to have a little surgey. I had a huge blood clot in my left calf. So I spent the next three days there.
Now the wife gets to drive the jeep since I can not push the clutch in. I get to drive tbe van. What fun.
If all goes well I am hoping it take only eight weeks for me to heel.
