This year the Yj has failed for fog lights wired straight to the battery, whole in the tail pipe, crack in the frame, and deformed spring clips. PICKY PICKY PICKY.

Wayne Estes garage over in Greenbrier, very thorough but after inspecting OTR rigs all day, tires with tread are enough. ;D

A to Z is the place to be.
Passed me in 15 minutes, with no wait. It was awesome.
They even had Maxim to read while I wait. ;D

Dales failed me over some stupid stuff with my old pickup truck once and gave me plenty of attitude with the inspection at no additional cost. I used to live near there and have heard quite a few bad stories from his garage. I think it depends on what kind of mood you catch him in.

I can't remember the name of the place but it's at azeala garden and military. They reinspected my yota last year after Firestone hit me for horn not being loud enough and thin brake pads. The pads were new they had just installed them a month prior (installed incorrectly I might add) and horn not loud enough??? Told the inspector about it at this other place and he broke out dial calipers and all kind's of measuring tools and said everything is with in specs and slapped a sticker on it. He did this even though I was having a electrical problem that the starter would sometimes engage.

Well, A to Z is out. Most thorough inspection I've ever had. Hit me for exhaust dumping about a foot from the back, Rev lights not on, fuel pump leak (it doesn't leak), front brake lines cracked (they are not), emissions not hooked up (because I have the MC2100 carb without the vacuum to the EGR), and a few other misc things. Some of it is legit and I should fix, but man. I had a real jerk do the first inspection and he didn't hit me on any of this.

I guess that's why I'm going to maintain my out-of-state registrations on my trucks while I'm here, which also excludes me from going back to WA or CA for emissions testing -- not that any one of my three would fail that. The only issue with my Nissan right now is the fact that the headlights need a bona-fide re-aiming (gotta love body shops that do less-than-decent work... in IL) and I need to replace one of the horns and fix the button on the steering wheel (again). I'll probably take care of all of that... though I wish auto parts stores and/or JC Whitney still sold the freaking headlight aiming levels! *shrug*

Who uses headlight aiming levels? Find yourself a nice, dark parking lot, and get either a buddy or a blanket to block one headlight at a time ... problem solved.

I totally agree with chuck... Back home we would pull-up to a Building (K-Mart, Pizza Hut, the school, etc etc) where the ground is level and we would back-up about 5 to 7 feet and do one at a time until they were at a decent level (Normally at that distance we'd level them about waist height... give or take how tall you are)... and then we'd go on a dark back road that has more than a few dark corners/turns to see if they were enough to go. After all it's your saftey, if the lights are adjusted by a garage and you can't see too clearly due to the lights no shining in the areas needed to see (like diagonally out the windshield on either side) then you never know what you might miss or hit.
