Ok the other day at work I was a lil board so I started looking at shocks. A stock xj shock is 23ins long. Thats 100% decompressed. Now if ne of you have have ever worked on a Chevy, Like a late 80's early 90's 1500. You would know that they look just like the xj shock. But the are rated for much more weight and they are about 6in longer. So I took a step down and pulled a S10 shock. They are 26ins long and the weight rating it about the same as well. Its also has the same bolt setup two.(Ear on top, eye on bottom). So today I bought a set of S10 Max Control Shocks. I went to install them. Then I found the deferents in them. First The eye bushing has a metal sleeve in it, where as the xj does not. It make the hole to small to fit on the stud so I had to pull the sleeve out. I try to install again found that the holes on the ears were a lil to far in. The xj's does have holes on the ear of the shock, it has a slit. I made the holes in to slits fairly easy. Just need to cut off a lil bit of the end of the ears. Then shock bolted right up. Now It was about 30Min's of work. For max control shock for the xj. Witch are stock length . Are around 60 buck a peace. For the s10 shocks that are 3ins longer they are around 34 buck a peace. Thats a big deferents. I'm pleased with them. Now I need to find a cheap alternative for the front shocks I will post if I do.

Just take all the shocks off. Then people will think you have hydraulics. That's awesome, do they make those same shocks for lifted esstens? I'm doing a project XJ right now.
