Im new to this jeep thing. I just bought a 82 cj-5. I rewired it using the painless kit. I have LED tail lights so I had to hook up my own backup lights. However now the reverse lights stay on all the time. Any body have any advice? I'm just learning the ropes of how to do repairs myself. SO any help would be nice.

The back-up lights are suppose to run thru a switch on your transmission. There should be a round threaded in switch on the side of the transmission. The power runs thru the switch when in reverse.

OK well right now the wires labeled back-up nuetral safety is disconnected and the reverse lights are still on. I think i found the switch you talked about by the stick shift lever once i removed the cover on the floor board. It has two prongs on it,,,is that the reverse switch?
