Thinking about a towrig would a fullsize bronco or expedition fit the bill for hauling either my BroncoII or a jeep.

You really need to get your BII weighed. Would you be wanting to flat tow, tow dolly, or trailer that thing? That all makes a difference.
A full size Bronco would have the better suspension for towing, but an Expedition would prolly have a lil more *ss to get down the road.

Brian I know Norm pulled that YJ up and back to the annual and never saw a problem with his Expedition and Trailer. We ran 55-65 most of the time......except when we decided to stop at the DQ for Blizzards. Then it got a little faster

A couple of thoughts -
wheelbase really helps how a vehicle tows, the longer the better.
most 1/2 tons are not designed with towing in mind - they don't have the frame, suspension, brakes, and tranny to handle the job over the long term - this is especially true of the SUVs that are designed to ride like minivans but look tough.
now is a good time to be buying a tow rig - you can find some great deals. My suburban (2500 w/5.7L) pulled Tony's jeep just fine.

Brian, I do run an Expedition that does the job just fine. I tow about two times a year and the rest is hauling around the family. You can find one for cheap now-a-days...I did use a '00 F150 for a while and it was great. You need the 5.4 with the 9.75 rear. Don't think a 8.8 in a newer Bronco will do the job. If you need more room, look for an Excursion with a V8 or V10. They are really cheap just now. The Expedition does have a coil rear, but it can tow about 7K without too much sway...

Speaking from experience... I towed my Yota 1 time behind my GMC Jimmy (K5 not S10). That was the worst trip I had ever taken... My yota should be about the same weight as your BII. Unless you're towing (tow bar) I don't think you should. Flat Towing (trailer) or Car dollies you need the extra wheel length and bigger brakes to tow safely and comfortably. I'm not saying it can't be done... just really really really not reccomended.

My $.02, I would go as big as possible. You can never have too big a tow rig, trailer, or equipment (tie downs and tires). Overkill is the key. Just an FYI... an XJ is supposed to weigh 3500 lbs +/- in stock form, and when ours is loaded for wheeling it weighs 4700 lbs. Add 2000 lbs +/- for a trailer, and you're up to 6700 lbs.
