I wouldn't tow that transmission four down, except in an emergency and for a short distance. You could do it if you disco the driveshaft at the rear axle. Or get a tow dolly and put the rear wheels on the dolly.

Another thing to remember.... Most tow bars are only rated for 5k lbs. I'm sure that Expedition weighs more than 5k lbs.

I have seen folks flat tow Tahoes, Suburbans, and the like. Usually it is behind a Class A motorhome with a driver with a large bankroll. I would consult as many sites and shops that are willing to give an opinion. As big as my '02 is, I would not want to tow it with anything short of a medium duty truck.

1) remove rear driveshaft (front if it's 4x4 and has auto hubs). 2)Use a tow bar that is rated to pull the GVWR of the Expedition - and I do stress GROSS, not empty weight. 3) If it's being towed behind a U-haul, etc., make sure you check your tires and everything on the tow bar and trailer lighting every stop. Not much else I can offer on that, other than good luck.
