We'll see how soon Josh will be in the market for a new-to-him Jeep or pieces and parts to fix his flopped YJ... I'm still not a fan of body lifts, especially ones over 2", and even that is pushing it. Josh, it's all about center of gravity and how it affects every aspect of handling both on and off pavement. Not to mention, you have to factor in how the BL is going to affect other mods you WILL have to do (cooling fan, trans and t-case shifters, etc., etc., etc.)..... I've come pretty close to flopping my '87 B2 at Oak Ridge, and it's only got Explorer springs on it... but that was a bad line judgement call that was key to that situation... that, and the sway bars still being connected... I'd hate to factor in a body lift or more suspension lift and venture to guess the outcome Dave G

If you do not have anything constructive to say please dont say it to me. thank you. i do not appreciate people telling me that i am stupid to my face when i dont even know you. I dont tell you how to build your rig so dont tell me that what im doing is wrong. This is not directed at people who are giving me constructive criticism just the people bashing my jeep. I DO NOT DO IT TO YOU , SO DO NOT DO IT TO ME.
Respectfully, Joshua Baker

My point may have been lost on most folks, Josh. This is just a hobby and shouldn't be something to get upset about. We are helpful and a pain. Take the good with the bad, the bitter with the sweet. I got a million of 'em....Enjoy working on your Jeep while you have money and time. I can't find either one, or a Jeep,,,,

I want more lift but dont want to move the main wheight up a lot more so im getting a body lift. Why do you want more lift? Are the tires hitting? If you need more tire clearance, add TJ flares like Mr. Wheeler suggested. Don't you know that the latest craze is to keep it low as possible? You've already got more lift than this guy that runs 39.5" Iroks Craig (don't care if I piss ANYONE off!) ;D

Going to get bigger tires soon and plus i like my rig big. You sure this is what you want. Hope you have a good inspector....Shayne's old YJ, 35's, 3" body and 4" suspension. I tried several times to get him to remove the body lift but he liked it that way....

Josh,
What size tires are you trying to fit?
I'd recommend doing everything that you can to avoid using the 3" body lift (especially the lift pucks that sit on top of the stock body mounts). As Craig said, lower center of gravity really helps keep the jeep tire-side down. The 3" body lift creates all sorts of linkage problems, increases the center of gravity, and has been known to lead to the body separating from the frame when the really long body mount bolts sheer. If it was my jeep, I'd keep the lift as low as I could by making the room for tires by trimming, swapping flares, getting the wheel back spacing right, using bump stops, etc.
I'm planning to lower my Heep for all of the same reasons.
Advice is what you make of it. We'll keep giving it, you get to decide if you want to take any of it.
