Glad to hear you're still alive, Chuck! Kinda figured you were busy with something. I'm not going to say that I've never towed with my Taco in overdrive, but I usually don't bother with it - mainly because every time I am towing, if I even feather above 60 mph, all the idiots seem to flock to my general geographical location, regardless of what state in the Union I am in That, and it doesn't matter if I keep it in 4th or 5th, I still consume the same amount of fuel over a tank of gas. I'm sure the newer autos are better equipped, but the only automatics I've had most of my towing with an automatic experience with were a Ford C-4 & C-6, and GM TH350 & TH400 - all of which had no overdrive, of course. I towed once with a 700r4 (my K5 Jimmy w/ 6.2 diesel) I never got into OD with a load so I wasn't too worried about it... but then again it was a short wheel base with 16ft trailer with no trailer brakes... behind a Non-turbo diesel... So OD was the least of my worries... over heating and stopping were more at the top of my mind... Never got points for smarts on that one but I had ba!!s that clanked! Or I was a few cans short of a 6 pack... Not sure which Paul G. p.s. Happy towing!

I plan on installing a after market trans cooler and temp gage soon. I don't need any broken parts already and it always happens to me. Just my luck. One thing to add if anyone was to purchase this truck make sure the dealer installs the three relays for towing (they are locate in a completely different box with all the towing fuses and relays). The dealer must install them once the arrive because they are not shipped with them. The turning signals and brake lights will work, but the running lights will not work. I was thinking something was broken on the trailer so I almost rewired the entire trailer and still nothing. So I started searching online and sure S*#t no relays. Just incase some one hears of this again you can be the hero.

I was fortunate with my Taco, I installed the aftermarket (Draw-Tite?) bolt-to-frame receiver hitch and wired in the aftermarket isolation/trailer hook-up with no problems. Only problem I have with flat towing my BII is I have to 'rig it' for being towed if I use the taillights on the vehicle itself rather than the mag-mount setup. Hopefully, the stealership doesn't hose you over on installing the rest of the towing package!
