A fall foliage trip would be geat, I have 4 days at the end of OCT if ya wana do a halloween run or wait till November, but hunting, its SUNDAYS only. Did the gate mess ever get sorted out, between the forest gate and landowner gate? Woos up for a campout up at skidmore?

The gate off Hwy 33 is a seasonal gate and is open / closed at different times of the year. The Rangers office can tell you if it's open or closed before you go. (North River Ranger Station phone number -540.432.0187, located in Harrisonburg) However I have gone to 2nd Mountain from May thru December and access the trail from Long Run Road. My Email is listed if anyone wants any further information on the area. I was just there in May and will be back up there Sept 2-4 with guys from my church.
