Anyone have any thoughts or experience to share regarding diesel fuel additives? ie: Stanadyne, Power Service, etc? As my truck does not see daily activity and a tank of fuel may last several weeks, I'm mostly interested in additives to prevent water accumulation and microbial growth, as well as improving lubricity, but if you use one that has improved fuel economy, that would be great, too. What do you guys use (if anything)?

Lyle, I don't think I'd worry about diesel sitting in a tank for a few weeks or even a couple of months. We have generators on base that have had the same diesel in the tanks for several years. We put an additive in the tank once a year. We've never had a problem with diesel fuel going bad since I've been there (11 years now) I'm definitely not saying that it'll last forever, but should be fine for several weeks or months. As far as a cleaning type additive, I was told by several diesel mechanics that there is plenty of additive already in the fuel when you get it at the pump. Just the lil bit that I know.

But does the site show him how a diesel engine works with it too?

Lyle, I used the brand they sell at Advance Auto. I think it was Power Service, and I noticed 2 things with it. Less smoke, and slightly better mileage. About 1mpg. It all adds up though. I think the better mpg outweighed the cost of the additive. I could get about 3-4 tanks out of 1 bottle.
