I was wondering about the weight values on trailer hitches.
If a hitch ball has a weight capacity of 3500lbs is that the weight that it can take pulling or at the tounge of the trailer?

Usually 3500 is the weight it can pull. The tongue weight is one-tenth of that a lot of times. Of course i could be wrong. I got rid of mine a few years ago, but that's how i remember it. it's hard to imagine being able to 3500 lbs onto the last foot-or-so of frame.

ya Aaron your right... its 10% of the gross weight should be your tounge weight.
