OK they work ok but, you will hear differing opinions on these. People either love them or hate them. As it was explained to me early on when building the first blue yj KISS. Keep it simple stupid. Why because it is alot easier to fix something that someone you are with may have extra with them. I actually have them on the front of my new jeep, however i didn't buy them they came on the jeep. I haven't had any issues with them so far but, run a sway bar on the road. The other thing works in conjunction with the shackles. It is the mount for the other end of your spring. The theory is when the spring droops out this will actually pull away from the frame and will allow for more flex. However your shock is going to be the limiting factor. You will need some long travel shocks to make them work the way they are designed.

You mentioned in an earlier post that you run a spring over, if you run revolver shackles you WILL need a traction bar or you'll ruin your springs due to the axle wrap. I think they work well but are toooo expensive. You can do things to the springs to get them to open better and almost negate the benefit of revolvers. I just saw you are looking at z boxes. I have no experience with them. that's my 02 thanks for listening

thanks both of you..speaking of sway bars i need to buy some quick disconnect ones..i took mine off and va state doesnt like that lol. Also..this may be very basic but what is a traction bar? i thought i had one..i am running a Rubicon Express soa so i thought it came with one. Also long travel shocks is something i didnt think about...mine seem to travel plenty for me now. I was assembling a massive wish list on quadratec.com and those shackles caught my eye.

Your running a Track bar not a traction bar... A track bar locates the axle under the jeep limiting the side to side movement. A traction bar or ladder bar keeps the axle from rolling. Think of the trucks with really big engines and really tall lifts you will see a bar go from the top and bottom of the axle up to a mid-point somewhere on the center of the frame. That would be a traction bar.

Matt,
I've got revolvers and a traction bar on the rear of my Heep - you are more than welcome to swing by and look at them sometime if you like and can fill in some of the hows and whys too.
