I am in the middle of a 4.0 swap and am stuck.
The engine is in and Wired (I think). I can get the engine to turn over, have spark and gas. I used the Hesco CPS relocation kit. The timing appears to be off. Right now it is at 16-20 BTDC.
I am wondering if anyone has any other ideas if re-timing does nor work this morning.

Was this a engine bay to engine bay swap. How much and what did you have to R&R? A first guess is to insure that #1 cyclinder is at compression tdc and then check your distributor. Two other ideas 1. is the Crank sensor aligned correctly? (paper thin gap) does it have the correct pully on the crank for that sensor? 2. is the fuel pressure above 40PSI?
hope it is easy and cheap to figure out!

If I remember right , the 4.0 dist. really isn't adjustable, not like a ford or chevy. I would double check #1 TDC like Pat said then double check your firing order of your wires. Also you should check to see that you are getting the ground pulse to the injectors to fire them. You could have fuel pressure but nothing to fire the injectors, a NIOD light works good for this. You should have a constant Battery voltage on one wire and the ground side is switched through the ECM from the CPS/ Distributor stator signal.
