Seriously...what kind/manufacturer/type of guages do you diesel drivers have in your trucks? Individual guages in a pillar mount, a monitor type that displays everything digitally, etc. I have been searching DTR.com in my free time and wanted to get YOUR opinions too.
Thanks for the help. Chris

I just have the tranny temp. No need to run all that stuff until you start adding juice or towing at it's max rating. Then i'd get an exhaust.

for some reason, I can't see Carla stepping out of the passenger seat and taking the boys out, with the lil nakey girl mudflaps in the scenery... something about that just says it's wrong.

Just paint a bikini on the naked lady mud flaps, that should be PC enough!

I like the A pillar EGT, # of boost, and the tranny temp. Oh yea, a window sticker that proudly states, "If you're gonna ride my azz, go ahead and pull my hair!"

I second what Scott said. There's really no need for gauges, until you start to play. If you're anticipating on the "toys" then you should start off with Egt, tranny temp., fuel pressure, and boost, in that order.
Craig
btw, have you been reading on TDR as well??

Yes, somewhat. But you have to have a subscription to use the search tool I believe. Makes it harder to find stuff.

Get the subscription to TDR...the mag they put out quarterly is worth it...plus you get all the good stuff on the forum.
Get the guages...I was suprised how close I was getting to max EGT towing my junk up Black Mountain and up the mountain to Boone, NC. And my CTD was stock. Better to know and not need it, than to blow something up and wish you had installed the guages. I have (for now) only the EGT guage from Isspro, will be adding boost # and fuel pressure soon. If you got an auto, I'd add that to the list.
I have budd's with the pillar mount. Adds quite a bit thickness to the A pillar, you will end up "looking around" it a lot. I also don't like all that light (even dimmed down) when driving at night.

I have two extra autometer guages mounted in a nice aftermarket holder that places them low on either side of the guage cluster. One is for turbo boost pressure in PSI and the other is the EGT. The stock cluster already had a tranny temp guage. guage holder looks like this If I were to do it over I would prob go for the 3 guage mount on the A piller. Get sick of looking around the two extra guages and the steering wheel to take it all in now.
