I would like to get a thread going on what aftermarket upgrades you guys have done and the result (ie was it worth the time/trouble/money or would you do the same again in a heartbeat). Also what different brands of aftermarket exhausts, programmers, air intakes, etc and what you think of the parts you got in quality and performance.
So far my PSD is all stock except for the extra guages, but I'm prob going to get a different intake setup and 4 or 5" turbo back exhaust setup soon and am curious to hear what you guys are running so far on your rigs.

Rule of thumb for BOMBing your Diesel. 1. Guages 2. Exhaust 3. Intake 4. Chip if you have a computer 5. Injectors 6. New Tires... On my CTD, I've added 4" exhaust, it gives better sound (though louder) and a little bit more power, and 1 or so MPG. I've got a "Jake Brake", helps with the wear on the brakes and makes long down hills much more controlled. I've slid my fuel plate (only on pre 98 CTD's) forward 1/2, gives a little bit more power. I usually run mine on Bio-Diesel. No performance gain...but I feel better for it.

I was kindo looking for what kind of parts are you using and what you think of the quality and performance. Like you have a 4" exhaust what brand did you go with and what do you think of the quality and gains you've seen.
I wish there was a closer place for me to get Bio-diesel at the pump. I'd love to run it all the time.

To answer the 2 PM's I got asking what BOMBing is: Big Ol' Modifications Baby! I used a MBRP turbo back exhaust. (I have a buddy that is a distributor, so if you see something you like on their site let me know part #'s and I can get really good pricing) I've had it on for about 3 weeks. I went the "cheap" route and got the Aluminized exhaust, don't go near salt water much and we only get a couple of snows a year...so I figured that if I got stainless (about $150 more) it would last longer than the truck. The fit and finish on it are excellent, as usual it took longer to hack the original exhaust off than it took to install the new stuff. I have an Isspro exhaust temp guage...it's an older style and works well, but it is hard to read due to the small numbering. Most of their new stuff has larger numbers. Guages are Guages...Pick the one you get the best price on or think looks the best, for the most part all the manufacturers are using the same sending units... I highly recommend getting an exhaust brake. It's way expensive, but is so nice to have and use.

Sorry you Dodge and Ford owners have to add a bunch of mods to pull the power out of your diesels! Next time buy a Chevy! Sorry couldn't resist! Just poke'n fun! However if you're a GM owner I've found this place to be great, tons of info on GM. dieselplace.com/forum/index.php Scott

Dam I drove back from Indiana pulling the XJ on an 18 foot trailer, Jeep loaded down, quads in the bed of the truck and other stuff and got 16MPG with the CC, the whole trip and even through the mountains, I only down shifted once but even cars were having problems on this hill

Bronco Billy and I installed the Banks Stinger Plus kit on his 7.3. Kit included turbo housing, exhaust down-tube, we eliminated the stock muffler and put on 4" tubing (I believe). Also included was the Trans-command tranny module (splice in) and computer programmer. We mounted included guages on left top of dash. Uses about one tank to Crozet and back at 70. Bad part (?!) was the tranny had to be rebuilt with beefier internals (added a better torque converter and shift improver kit as well) to handle the extra power. Next step will be addition of intercooler, we plan on getting a rather large trailer sometime down the road!

It does better than a travel trailer does though. I can get 16-17 without the camper and with just the Samurai on my new smaller trailer.
