Norm, Jay's trailer dealer couldn't get his new "bling" trailer to him in time for trail ride...

spinners... haha. I'm really leery about renting a U-haul trailer anymore. On the trip over here from the other coast we had a blowout on one we rented... and didn't realize it right away. Needless to say, we ended up with a replacement because the wheel was damaged and the rear leaf u-bolts were almost ground down to nothing. Thankfully, no loss of property or life. I just know that in the future, I will be a little more watchful and check everything 9348593045894 times before I drive a U-haul off the lot

Truck handled great... Got just under 11 mpg w/a.c. on BLAST. Soooo, maybe "the trip of a lifetime" for Camp Jeep is an option. Dang, you're making me feel a little better about my oil burner getting 10.8 mpg on the way home towing this. We stayed between 70-75 for the most part. At least until I hit a few of the "rolling" hills

Now I know why Craig sticks his spare in the back of the jeep.
My first trip with the new tow vehicle was great. Only pulling one Jeep with a full (short) bed of camping gear netted 11-12 mpg. But that's also with lots of A/C 70-75 mph and plenty of cool down time.

We got 13.5 rolling at the posted speed limit of course. Megacab is the way to travel, isn't it Jay? Craig, your mileage would improve greatly if you didn't have that strap dragging the ground, holding you back.

In comparison, hauling the Jeep on the trailer with the 02 half-ton gas 5.9L to Crozet, without camping gear, I got a whopping 9 mpg. It also took a lot more effort for the engine.

Flat towing my B2 with my Tacoma V-6 5-spd with the B2 completely full of stuff and my 'yota fairl well loaded, averaging 50-60 mph on the road, I believe I was getting 15-20 mpg, maybe more. I, however, didn't use A/C that much, nor did I attempt to go any faster than that. Had we been going any faster when the tire blew on the U-haul trailer, well.... everything of value including my wife would have been scattered all over the side of the road in Montana. *shrug*
