Are you taking your CJ5?
A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT.
AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE NORTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO WILL MOVE NORTHEAST TO NEAR CAPE HATTERAS BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON...AND THEN UP THE EASTERN SEABOARD TONIGHT. WELL AHEAD OF THIS SYSTEM PRECIPITATION WILL SPREAD INTO CENTRAL VIRGINIA AROUND DAWN AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY BEFORE TAPERING OFF THIS EVENING.
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN SNOW THROUGH MUCH OF THE DAY...BEFORE MIXING WITH AND THEN CHANGING TO SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING. AS THE PRECIPITATION TAPERS OFF...A LIGHT FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL BE POSSIBLE.
THREE TO SIX INCHES OF SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS CENTRAL VIRGINIA... WITH SLIGHTLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ACROSS THE BLUE RIDGE. ICE ACCUMULATIONS UP TO ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE...MAINLY IN THE EVENING HOURS.
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN BELOW FREEZING TONIGHT... SO HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS COULD PERSIST AFTER THE PRECIPITATION ENDS.
A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW... AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.

HAHA take the CJ-5? It doesn't have a top. By Saturday afternoon, there was still some snow up on the mountain. Pat and I passed 2 jeeps on the pavement, think they were heading home. We came across the rest of their group camping up at one of the site on the trail. We continued on noticing tracks in the snow going OFF the trail in several spots, some just blazing their own trail. Blaze orange ribbon had been knocked down and small MTR prints in the prints darting through the woods. SO Pat and I replaced the ripons and blocked off two areas where tresspassing was present. We continued up and over the mountain. At the top where the Appalachian Trail crosses, this area is becoming a popular spot to drive off the trail too. We continues out to RT. 56 where we aired up the WIllys tires and headed to Vitos for dinner. BEN
