Just wanted to pass this along to anyone who might have the same problem I have run into (not anymore, now that i have a black and tan for a top ;D )
For those with a black top:
1: I always use a scrub brush (like the one you use for the tub with the stiff bristles) and a good soap/water mix. Scrub in a circular motion (not unlike the karate kid ;D )
2: To make it "BLACK" again, you know sometimes it still looks grayish black? I use the black tire shiner stuff you get in the spray can. Spray it on and rub it in with an old but clean rag. I did this to my top last may and the "shine" / deep black lasted for 6 months... and it seemed to condition the top a little as well...
Just wanted to pass along this little tidbit of info...
Take it or leave it ;D

All tire cleaner is, is basically a wax right? My top seemed to bead water a lot better afterwards.

I will give you $20 to come to my house and use that procedure on my top. ;D I will even provide the soap, bucket, and brush. You have to provide the water though.

Tire Shine also works great on bedliners that are fading from black to grey.

yeah the tire shine works great, but if you want it to stay black and not wear down you gotta get a can of the paint, they use, its like a layer to paint on top of the textured bed. Its like a clear coat, and it protects it. Just call the company who did the lining and they will send u one, i had my jeep sprayed with FMJ( full metal jacket), a corser texture then line X and they gave it to me for free. The little things they don't tell you to protect you bed, then it wears down and they charge you $200 to re spray it. Just a little tip if anyone wants it ;D
