Well, the parts for the YJ will be here next Thursday. Dad is picking up the lift, shocks, and brake lines and bringing them with him. The shock hoops will be here before that. Anyone want to help build a YJ thursday? Also does anyone know if there is a difference in the length of the front driveshaft in the automatic and the manual yj's. 89 man 90 auto.

well, so far this has been a night mare. Dad showed up with the kit and everything looked good. No instructions came with it. Well, as you can guess that probably wasn't a good thing. We started this morning and got the rear tore apart well, we picked the springs that had what i thought was an overload spring. Started to put the bushings in and found out that something was not right. The springs that i had, had the same size holes in each end. the bushings had what looked like the stock bushings. a few calls lare and the correct buchings were being sent from superlift. ;D got the rear together and the pinion angle looked really bad for a 2.5 inche lift. another call and come to find out that i didn't have superlift springs they substituted them for pro comp ones. ;D Good upgrade however they could have given me the correct install kit. So now i have all the correct stuff being fed exed in and it should be here in the morning. Now back to the pinion. After another few calls pro comp informed me that we had installed the front springs on the rear Son now i am heading back out to take it back apart and get it put together right before morning when we have to do the front end. Looks like i am leaving the locker out for now. Oh well, i am sure lyle will have his winch out for me again. Tony

Wow! Well, on the bright side, your supplier is looking out for you, and you're making lots of new friends on the phone. Plus... you'll be able to disassemble and reassemble your suspension blindfolded, in the dark, in a driving rainstorm. Hey... the winch is good and looking for a workout... we're GOOD! ;D
Seriously, get that YJ bolted back together, Bud... Friday is not far away! Bummer about no locker yet, but first things first. Your Dad is coming down too? Cool deal! Tell him we're looking forward to seeing him.
ps. try not to mention that "Superlift" word around Pat... we try not to upset him like that.
note to self... wonder if I can find that old post and bring it back up to the top? hehehe

Hey the way i see it i got a 589 dollar suspension for about 419. Heck i can't complain at all. They even gave me some shocks for the front that are 3 inches longer than what come with the kit. I think these were made for a ford truck. Yeah dad is looking forward to going. He was however a little angry that they screwed up so bad. but, hey i got enough polyurathane laying around the garage floor now i'll be throwing those instead of marchmellows at the next annual. ;D Yeah pat is still having flash backs about the superlift word. Are we still running friday morn up shoe creek? Tony

Are we still running friday morn up shoe creek? I'm not going to be able to make it down there 'til Friday night... not sure about anyone else. I think Ben said something about maybe a Sat NIGHT run on Shoe? Night, fresh snow, sub-freezing temps, me with new front bumper... I'm IN! ;D I know Tim is dying to try that downhill backwards slalom again!

Where are you located? If close to the VB area, I'll comeby sometime and help ya out. I will let you know right now that procomp rides like a brick. You might want to consider taking a leaf out of each pack. Try it out first and go from there. I have a CJ and have messed with a few YJ's, so let me know. Jack

I'm finally good to go everythign finally showed up friday night and we got everythign on there before sat. Sat i put on the shock hoops a the 30 inch shocks "Extended" Yeah they look rather big but, they will still keep it from maxing out by about an inch. I figured if i went any longer i would bust something on compression. Thanks pat for the advice. So now i am in need of a drive shaft. I have to get about 2 inches put into the front one and i will be ready for some good fourwheelering. ;D

So where are you going to have your drive shafts done at? I know at the meeting tonight they talked about the discount with T. Woods, but is there anyone local that modifies (lengthening, balancing, etc) exsisting ones worth a poop? Jack

I know there are a few drive shaft shops around here that will do it. I just flexed it out on a big dirt pile and i couldn't get the front or rear shafts from coming anywhere close to pulling apart. It was as far up the pile as i could go with both open diffs. However it was far enough to completely drop out the 30 inch shocks up front. I checked all 4 corners and it flexed great. The buggy leafs even flexed out so i am ready to go. Anyone want to come show me how to throw that locker in the front end? Jason, Jason, Jason. ;D Oh yeah anyone got a welder that doesn't mind throwing a couple of beads on my shock mounts for me?

Not real sure Chris and Craig checked it out last month and couldn't figure it out. It is installed in another front end right now laying in my garage. I am just going to take it out and put my ring gear on it and it should be good to go. They said that as long as i keep the shims and everything the same on each side that it will most likely work just fine. I however have never done this type of work and dont want to end up breaking something i can't fix before i have to use it for work monday morn. It does however look something sorta like a detroit true trac. But, not for sure.
