HURRAY ! So hows the drive shaft comin along I don't know, you have a torch? These puppies aren't coming out the normal way. Probably drop it off at Fishers over on High Street. They fixed my last driveshaft. Started to strip the threads on my u-joint tool this was after it soaked all night. Figure that I would let someone else be responsible for breaking it instead of me. Now who was the high bidder on this thing? I'll give you some GPS coordinates for which part of the Rockfish River you need to fish it out of.

Dang Jeeps. I told you. You need an extra vehicle or 3! Well at this point, releasing the parking brake and giving it one good shove should make it fish housing. It would appear that the u-joints are original, I guess not bad for 98K but it shouldn't ruin the threads on the u-joint tool trying to get them out so it is getting the torch treatment. That way, I break, I replace, they break- they replace. And I've done enough u-joints that I actually do know what I'm doing. Hmmm, extra vehicle, that is actually being discussed, thinking import.

You have threads on your u-joint tool? My hammer doesn't have any threads on it??? Yes it is a special order dealer only specialized u-joint metric threaded hammer. ;D Actually it is a ball joint/u-joint tool that has always worked great in the past. Besides this way I'm not teaching new words to little ones after I hit my fingers.

Tried to post last night, but guess it didnt go through. For the fill plug, I know you already got the right wrench, but in the future if you have a standard wrench that is just a lil too big for that metric bolt, stick the blade of a regular screwdriver in there to take up the slack. Works every time there is room to use it. As for the u-joint clips. Put the shaft in a vice, and use a punch (screwdriver) and tap the rings out of their slots a lil with a hammer. Your not trying to remove the clips, just free them from the clutches of that evil snap ring groove. Once they move a bit, the snap ring pliers will get em right out. Oh, and I'll go $701, driveshaft aint that important. Ken "redneck wrenchin" B. Cool tips, Ken! Does anyone think we should move some of this over to the "Tips and Techniques" forum for things just like what Ken shared (or for posting the correct size wrench for an AX-15 fill plug)? Might be a good place to record such things? (Jonathan, $702, you keep the driveshaft, and I'll bring you a fruitcake... make it three fruitcakes!)

Dang Jeeps. I told you. You need an extra vehicle or 3! Well after what Diane went through this morning with the dogs in her Cherokee, we are looking at just that thing. And Chris, sent you an email about that.

Well after what Diane went through this morning with the dogs in her Cherokee, we are looking at just that thing. And Chris, sent you an email about that. Dogs? How many dogs in the Cherokee? And what happened? We all want to KNOW! Just a tip, though... if this goes along the lines of how many huntin' dogs live in your Jeep, you're getting dangerously close to redneck territory, and perhaps a joke or two.
