Well I plan to keep wheeling it D35 or not. I guess my fear is that it's my only mode of transportation. My wife told me that if I break it, don't expect to be taking the XJ. That's the great thing about this forum, it's great to talk to those out there who have used other stuff and it works. I know that part of my problem is the tires that I'm running. Kelly Safari MSR's aren't exactly an off-road tire. I think that my wife would understand replacing axles and adding lockers more than replacing the axle. Ken go to this link and look at the pics titled CJ5 hill www.yellowjeep.org/Jambo/final.htm You will see what a lot of skinny pedal and stock D35c axles and an ARB can do.

Good pics from the event, Jonathan, and thanks for posting the link. I know I'm mixing topics here, but you do have to admit that the solution pictured here: is much more elegant than a tree limb tied to the bumper. :-)

And... Ken, for what it's worth, pictures of CJ5 Hill never seem to do it justice... they're not three dimensional. Seeing a photo is one thing... seeing that big honking rock through the upper portion of your windshield while you're down in the stream is another. You just need to come down and run it! Lyle

Sheeeesh guys!!!! I went up that thing with no problems! All you poor little Jeepers just have to deal with being insufficient in the wheelbase deparment....remember, only LWBs do it long!

but it's easy to tell where full size rigs are on a tight trail, just watch the tree tops move as they squeez there way through.

But the tree limb does give you that outdoorsey feeling. HA! It also depends on whether the people going up before you are going full throttle and kicking out all the rocks.
